Thanks Michael...Excuse my ignorance, but will the discs help with the PQ from the satellite??? That's my main focus right now since I'm having the annual Superbrawl party at my house this year. I have Dishnetwork and us an S-Video directly to the RPTV. I probably have what you guys call...
I'm torn...Just rounded the corner of 100 hours on the new Toshiba 51H83. Now I've never attempted to calibrate an RPTV. What are the opinions out there on the best place to spend my money...Avia, DVE or pay 25 bucks to get into the "Toshiba Tweaks" section of hometheaterspot.com???
I do need to get into the HD!!! I'm hesitating just for the simple fact that they don't offer the local network channels yet in my area. I'm in Jefferson City, MO which is almost in the middle of the KC and St Louis metro areas. I know at least one of the local channels has gone HD, but Dish...
I know for sure I have to start with a digital cable. Then I can dive into the other items on the checklist. Thanks for all the help and hints. I'll post the outcome when I get it worked out this weekend. Thanks again...!!!:emoji_thumbsup:
Not yet...My contract with Dishnetwork is up in January and probably will go with Direct TV. It's my understanding that Dish doesn't broadcast in true HD. Any idea if this is true?
Is it me or my Onkyo HT-500...??? I have read my DVD (Sony NC615) & HT Receiver manuals cover to cover several times and cannot for the life of me get my receiver to play in any other mode other than Pro Logic II. My aim is simply to playback in DTS.
You know I could just be an idiot, and my...
I just passed 40 hours on a new Tosh 51H83. As I understand it, the picture should start to clear up around 100 hours and on up to 200 hours? I plan on tuning it will Avia at about 100 hours and again at 200 hours.
Here's my questions for the day...Should I run a single piece of coax from the...
Tell you what Anita...You are sooo right!!! Always been around computers both at home and at work, but they've either been outdated (home) and simple work stations (work). But in the past week I've added to my recently finished basement...a home bar, screaming Dell with all the goodies and a...
I don't know much about this software, but will Windows Movie Maker 2 burn movies, pictures and sound in a format my Sony DVD Player can reproduce??? The Sony supports...DVD, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3.
We...no, excuse me...My wife bought a couch and chair (non-recliner  )made out of the "Microfiber" fabric. Pretty downright comfortable if you ask me! It's closer to the feel of a real fine textured suede. I've personally seen water bead up on it and wipe right off with a paper towel...
They went as far as to show me in writing their price matching policy and internet price matching policy. They would match any "online price of a local store". That's fine, but my town only has 35K people in it!!! If the competition had a "local store", why the h*** would I be shopping and...
Michael...I ordered a 51h83 from a local B&M store early last week and thought I got a pretty good deal on it. Logged into Onecall.com Friday night (I know this is the wrong forum) and got a price of $1312.94 with a FREE Toshiba SDV391 DVD/VCR combo. Granted you have to pay shipping, but you can...
Jim...Sorry man, I sure wish I had some before, during and after pictures, but to this date I don't have a Dig Cam. But here's my diatribe...I prefer the 5/8" on the ceiling instead of drop-style. My preferrence was soley for the 4-6" of headroom you save. But my suggestions would be... * Run...
Joe...You wouldn't believe what we can break watching a Mizzou game or other sporting event. Probably ought to put one of those country bar-type "chicken wire" cages around the HTS when the boys come over...!!! The Step-Father has 2 Sima SUR-20s that they no longer use for one reason or...
Great info Joe...!!! Building and soldering won't be a problem. I just don't know enough about electronics to know if a particular button will work (ie...resistance, current rating, etc). A guy could probably write a book on this, but is there a simple way to figure it out? There's a "Series 57"...
I have a bar I made for my basement that I'd like to add a small controll panel to. Ie...The Volume Control from the receiver and the Disc & Track Skip features from the DVD player. Would it be easier to canibalize a spare univeral remote? Or...If I took my remotes to an electronics guru, say...
My one major suggestion (too late for my own use) would be...If you even have an remote almost non-existant inkling that you may one day rearrange the basement, run conduit to that area before installing the drywall to ease the future pulling of wire. Make sure you draw a fairly accurate diagram...
I just took delivery (Monday) of my new 51H83. Problem being...Due to room constraints I don't have room for a separate rack to house the other HT components. I'm thinking of builing a "riser" about 6-8 inches in height to set the 51 on. My vision is a riser that is either carpeted to match the...
Tibor...Here's my experience, I recently finished our basement (26x13). I'm talking concrete walls/floors and open floor joists up above. I'd suggest rethinking running the speaker wire inside the wall. It makes for a much cleaner install, plus it doesn't seem like you'll be moving the furniture...
As for Wal-Mart...They sold $1.52 Billion dollars worth of goods the Friday after Thanksgiving. Compare that to the entire retail sector that did a Total of $7.2 billion and a guy (or gal) can realize just how huge they are. I may be from Missouri, but by my cipherin' that's 21% of all sales in...
You'd be surprised, but I'd try the independently owned high-end and mom-n-pop stores in your area. They can spread their gross profit/loss across their store just like the big boys. One, they don't have the corporate pricing guidelines to live by. Two, maybe they don't have the buying power of...
The fella whom I'm working with on buying the TV is an independent A/V guy that custom installs one HTS at at time. He's sold and installed both Dish Net and DirectTV and swears up and down by DirectTV. My contract is up in mid Jan. so I might jsut take that step to Direct TV...
An independent A/V guy I've been working with here in town on my own widescreen purchase talked me out of a Sony 42we610 due to (his words) Sony's not upconverting video signals to true 1080i HD. He said they used a system called EDTV and another I can't remember. Basically a lot of tech-type...
Two questions...Is the memory card similar to the Sony Memory Stick? Will the program guide support Dish Network? Other than that it sounds like the '93 is the one...
I was working on an associate from CC last month on a Sony 42we610 and he plainly told me he/they DON'T match internet prices. Of course they work on commission. He's trying to get the most GP out of the sale right up to the point you walk out of the store. I got him to eventually match the...
