I'll delete it. I did actually think it was mine though. I had it loaded on my laptop anyways. But that is obviously the same test. I guess I can't find my test results. If I can track down where it came from maybe I can bust him as you did me!! I know mine is somewhere. Thanks for letting me...
That is one of the best written reviews I have read. Thanks for the link. That is a set of evaluations to model after indeed. I wonder just how long it took to do and get together?
All I know is everytime I dig into virtually all professional tests, I find things about the test that decrease their validity for me. In this case you used their test data to show that it would not hit good output at 20hz and that is not the case with the product, but you have to use the Movie...
Well you get better extension with the movies preset. My testing was done with EQ Room Wizard on a laptop. I did get a screen shot of my 20hz test, after I ran the comparitive that is supposed to give you a distortion spec. pop up along with the response.
Tom "Without know what measurement gear and methods were used to gather your thd data...it is impossible to comment on it futher than...it contradicts the published data." I don't think there is any contradiction in the numbers. They intentionally did not use the DSP to any advantage in...
Say what you will. This room was identical, the corner did not matter at all, as the owner had placed the SVS in the same corner as the Velodyne was for testing with zero change in performance. In short for the test they "AVSTalk" screwed up on this product as far as I am concerned. I...
PS: I had always wondered what genius said to use the Jazz preset on these tests, so I actually registered there and asked them on the test results page. I mean their graph matches the performance characteristics of the jazz preset very well. :)
Tom, I'll bet it could not hit very high at 20hz using the Jazz / Classical preset they used. It almost looks like deliberate sabotoge of the results in all honesty. I did just dig up those AVTalk test results... Now I remember the biggest thing they did that made the test pretty much...
What the shootout show'd me was not which is really the better sub, but just how much bearing the room has on how your subs will actually perform. 26% distortion on the velo was what I remember at 110db at 20hz. The SVS was not in the 20%+ distortion range until 16hz. The SVS is surely...
I'll have to dig the posted links back up for the data. My distortion numbers were measured by running a comparative of input -vs- output waves. Both subs were in opposite corners of the room one on each side of the screen. I'm going to dig up the threads I posted the shoot out on to...
The SP4805 displays HD at ED resolutions just fine. I can assure you in this ultra bargain of bargain HT projectors. The differences are much less pronounced than most here post or admit. In a dedicated theater where the contrast levels make a large difference the 4805 is better. In a...
I would be most happy to bring my DLS5000R over and show it off against another Ultra/2...... This would be a real eye opener for all the number heads on the matter. There are certainly no claims I am aware of that the DLS is even as good a sub as the SVS dual 12"'s. But there is...
I had a good shoot out in an average room between an Ultra/2 and a DLS5000R.... There is no fishyness about the claims. The numbers came out to what they came out to between the two subs. I ran the tests, with EQRoom Wizard. The SVS playes hard to 16hz, the Velodyne plays hard to 20hz...
Only $200 to the same sized Sony? I'd go with the Sony at $777 hands down, but I think the Sony goes for more than that no? :) Talk em down some more. :)
Interesting. Can you send it 480i via you DVD player over the same component connections? Some DVD players will not let you do this. I have not seen it in years, but some older displays stil would not allow not adjust sharpness even on 480p input. My whole point is, maybe it is not...
I would take the dual 12" over the single 12" anyday. The dual 12" SVS subs are priced right for the most part in comparison to each other. Each jump gives you what you pay for over the other. I would want two PB12-ISD/2's over one Ultra/2 myself, the bang for buck on dual PB12-ISD/2's in...
I looked at each offering from each manufacture listed and did not see anything I liked. Look for deals on Yamaha or Onkyo HTIB's and at least try to talk him out of having the DVD player integrated. This always sort of backfires on people with these things. Both Yamaha and Onkyo sell...
$550 CDN doesn't sound that high to me. Upper end of what they cost anyways. On the repair. Once again probably on the threashold of what makes sense finances wise as long as the display is HD. On non HD displays, no way.
It was EQRoom Wizard running on a laptop.. I may still have the data. Nobody asked me for it. We also had RS sound meters available. Calibration was done as much as possible to achieve accuracy. Supposed to compensate for meter and even the electronics in cheap sound cards.
