    I can't stand theaters....

Dear Vicki: "I'm constantly taken aback at how proud some people sound when they announce to one and all that they don't go to the theater. That's not the sound of a movie lover." Take a look at the first line of this post... http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htfo...hreadid=201440 Then...

    I can't stand theaters....

You are absolutely correct Lew. I was only referring to the atmosphere of the HT movie-viewing experience, sitting on a big sofa with food friends and pets, instead of the "lineup-shutup-buy this-dont even think of doing that-get out now so i can push a damp mop around" routine at Megaplex...

    I can't stand theaters....

Ernest: Points taken, I agree that it is entirely subjective. My drunks-in-the-back experience was much worse than yours. Vickie_M: I saw this line of arguement before in the "Sky Captian" thread. Based on those posts, and what you've written here, I think it is safe to say you love going...

    I can't stand theaters....

After reading through this thread I'm delighted that I'm not dependent on the mood of a crowd to know if I'm having fun or not. Cellphones and deadbeat parents keep me out of the theater these days, I don't miss it for a second. Ernest, I've enjoyed reading many of your posts on this...

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

This is a rather poor review in my opinion. Your thoughts on new-fangled-computers runing the "talkies" is not terribly relevant or informative. Something for a seperate, non-review thread perhaps? Why not view it again and give us more on the technical aspects of the transfer, presentation...

    Films That Personally Offend You

"-Moulin Rouge (They can die for using a Nirvana song in the movie. Kurt Cobain would be outraged.)" Tony-B: Kurt Cobain posed for the cover of "Sassy" magazine. Should they die too for exploiting his image? Give me a break. He's was musician who recorded his music for public consumption and...

    Downloading nuclear explosion recordings?

I must second Holger's reccomendation. The Trinity and Beyond DVD is fantastic. William Shatner does a tremendous job narrating the thoroughly restored footage. Your jaw _will_ drop when you see "Shot Baker" go off underwater. The DVD can be purchased individually or in a set of three movies...

Am I crazy, or is the image in theaters blurry?

On forums ranging from Martial Arts, 2nd Amendment Rights to vintage computers, I hear the _exact_ same complaints about the A/V experience in todays movie houses. The ROTK showing I went to was a disaster. 5 minutes of blank picture during the Smeagol's scene in the beginning, the constant...

the price of dvd's in canada

Hello. These days I pre-order most things from amazon.ca, and always use "5$ off 35$" or ideally a "10$ off 50$" promotional coupon code, that can be found at canadian deals sites like goldfishlegs.ca or redflagdeals.com. I always buy enough on each order to qualify for free shipping. Then...

    City Of God R1 announced

" 1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen Brazilian Portuguese Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround News From A Personal War - 1 Hour Documentary" Anamorphic widescreen and a 5.1 Portuguese soundtrack, perfect. I'm not a big fan of extras, all I want is high quality picture and sound. Hopefully the transfer...

What MINIMUM specs. will we accept for HD discs??

I'd like to see: A standard, durable caddy system to protect the disc at all times and protect the incredibly small and sensitive pits if the discs are going be standard sized with a 50gb capacity. I was no fan of the caddy back in the 2x CD-Rom day, but with so much data in such a small...
