Michael.. That is interesting.. is the potable fan a normal desktop variety? And where do you aim it? Just over the unit, or specifically into an air intake vent? Also.. How do you check the temp of the unit? How do you know it is 2 to 3 degrees cooler? Is there a menu setting to check this...
But what is better, cooling it to room temp, or leaving it hot?? I mean, if what you say is correct, and there is only a problem if you turn the unit on again, what is the point of having the cooling sequence at all. Why not just turn it off at the wall? Assuming I don't turn it on again it...
I have made an observation about my new AE700 and the way it cools after it has been in use.. When I hit the big Power button, and then it Ok to confirm "Power Off", the AE700 goes into its cool down routine. I can hear the fan inside speed up.. and I can feel hot air being pushed out of...
I forgot to point out that the HT is on the ground floor of a two storey house. Moving these cables will be no trivial task. (its not like I can climb up into the roof and move them). From the small holes in the ceiling where the cables come out now I cannot see if this move is even...
mmm... That could be tough. Ideally I would like to install them in the roof, and then in the wall, and hear the difference. But I not really that keen to put such big holes in the wall or roof, if they are not going to be used. Thanks for your input. Has anyone else had some...
So perhaps there is some method to their madness. Can you explain why they the rear speakers would be better in the roof, 3 meters behind me. If your right, it saves me the task of patching up the gyprock.
My new house was finished about 8 months ago. During the build I had some wiring installed for the speakers for my home theater. The room is about 7 x 3.5 meters big. We'll be sitting about half way along the length of the room, therefore about 3.5 meters from the screen. The installer...
Good thinking on the connectors.. One of mine is broken and I have to attach the cable with one of those bulldog clips they use to hold piles of paper together in an office. Not only that, but the holes in the connector posts are too small and like you I have a hell time trying to get the...
I have found a solution. I can't believe that I did not think of it before. Get the LE25 tweeters reconed. I contacted the distributor of JBL here in Australia and they can get the kit in for me ($66AU) and fit it for $25AU. Too easy and hopefully, they will be as good as new...
By titanium tweet I assume you mean the JBL GTO10T 1" Titanium Tweet? I have looked at this online and it seems to be for car audio. Has anyone here used this tweeter in a pair of L100s.
Thanks for the responses guys.. I have decided to go the DIY route (or at least the GAFTBI route) "Get a friend to Build it". Terry St made a good point. I don't have the tools required to make it myself. Nor have I ever done much wook working so I'm not sure what I would end up with if I...
I am in the process of putting together my first home theater. This HT is to go in my new house that is currently under construction so needless to say, I am rapidly running out of money to buy the parts of the system I still need. One of these parts is a sub. As another of the parts...
mmm... good thinking Daniel. My concern with this is that the power cable would have to run perhaps several meters with the video cable. Could this not cause interference? Another thought is that the HT gear (receiver and such) is near the front the room. If the conduit has to run to the...
"How long is a peice of string?" I am building a new house and I am planning a home theatre in the front room. I have asked the company building the house to put a power point in the roof of this room (for the projector) and i have asked the chaps doing to HT wiring to install a 2" conduit...
In not exactly sure what I want send back there. I'm buiding a HTPC. It will do DVD, MPGS, MP3, DivX etc etc. So what ever can be played on the HTPC and passed the reciever, I want to be directed to room 2 if needed. I'm not even sure if the 912 can output video or audio to 2 places at once...
Brian True. It does have pre-outs on all the channels.. If I was to use them, i would need to run a cable for each the front, rear and subwoofer to Room2 and then have and amp for the front and one for the rear (with the sub back there being self-powered). Might be easier to just pass...
The reciever doing the sending is a Pioneer 912. I'm sure I could find the specs on the power output of the component out and the coax out, but even if I got the values, I would not know what is acceptable for this deployment. Anyone here know of this power/distance ratio, or have an idea of...
My Home Theatre is still in the plannnig stage. One of the options I am looking as is to divert the audio and video signal to another room in the house. This room will have its own speakers, tv and receiver. The video signal I plan to move via a component cable, straight to the back of the tv...
I am building a house and my first Home Theater. I have been thinking that it would be nice to be able to direct the audio and video signals to another room in the house. My question is, can I run two full sets of speakers, from the one amp? A Pioneer 912. I didn't think so. So here is...
I am building a HT in the house I am building with my wife to be. My playback devices will be a dvd player, commercial television vis the standard RF in, and a 'cable' service (Foxtel for those is Aust). When you sign up for the new Foxtel 'digital' service (yes, we have only just got...
DonnyD I am not sure it is blown so I will check the wiring once I get a chance. However, on the one that I think is blown, the middle of the cone is pushed in. The sort of thing that a kid does to speakers. I don't know how this one got like that. It was like that when I got the speaker...
One of the tweeters in my JBL L100s is blown, and the other has a small rip in the cone. They are very old. Time they were replaced. I have emailed the Austrlian distributor of JBL, but as yet have not recieved a response. In case they can not help (being in Australia and all) I am...
mmmm.. .thinking... I do have some friend who are going to the USA. But they are not leaving until April, and will be gone for months. I'll ask around. Thanks for the tip.
I am looking to buy an amp. But living in Sydney, I am finding that getting gear at a reasonable price is difficult. There just seems to be so much mark up. For example, I have been looking at the Pioneer D912 to be my first HT receiver. I have found this for sale in Australia for between...
cabreau. It's me who is the drummer, not Mark. None the less, nice drummer jokes.. When I was a child I went to my dad and said, "Dad, when I grow up, I wanna be a drummer". He said, "Son. You can't do both". Or finally, what is the difference between a drummer and a drum...
I found it. As I suspected, it was in the bag that dad use to take to shows. That silver input at the bottom of the amp with the two red terminals is for the power. The cable that plugs into it looks like a canon plug (the sort of plug you put into a microphone) This is not a standard type...
Good point wayne. I'll have a dig through dads gig bag and see what I can find. (Later. I am at work now). Maybe that silver plug with the red bits in it is for the power. There is also that female plug hole just to the right of it, but I doubt that the power plug would be male at the amp...
I've not heard of either Shriva or Tempest or Adire Audio for that matter. I wonder if they are available in Sydney. Are these good sub speakers? Off to google I go.
I have put some photos of the amp up for you to have a look at. The Amp I was wrong before when I said there is knobs on the front. There are no knobs on it at all. (I wonder how you set the volume of the beast). Anyway, as you can see, it is different to the one in the link sent by...
