Blu-ray music albums target replacement of SACD and DVD-Audio

So do "Pure Audio" Blu-Ray discs require navigating through an on-screen menu in order to play the tracks? Having to connect a monitor of some kind to play back most DVD-A discs (vs. SACD) was something that to be honest, really detracted from the experience for me.

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Driven to Kill

Ditto. I keep watching every new direct-to-DVD movie he does hoping for a turnaround, but it just keeps getting worse. This was truly awful. I swear I couldn't understand half the dialog he was muttering. Personally I think he jumped the shark when he started making movies where the bad guys...

    Best Laurel and Hardy DVD's?

Yes! Thank-you SO much! I ordered from Amazon first thing today. I wish I could afford the whole box-set all at once, but these will hold me for a while.... --I.M.

    Best Laurel and Hardy DVD's?

This question reminded me to ask about a couple L&H shorts I remember watching many years ago, and finding absolutely drop-dead hilarious, but I don't remember the titles. I believe they were both "talkies", but I'm not positive. One involved the guys basically having a food-fight in a...

    Horror Spoof Movies

There are quite a few. But many are bad. Depending on how far back you want to go, I always thought one of the best was "Student Bodies" from 1981. Unfortunately, not available on DVD as far as I know.... --I.M.

Anne of Green Gables Collector's Edition DVD - Any opinions?

Unless I'm missing something, it isn't. The Sullivan site sells the 80's version. I think Daryl's referring to the 1934 film with Anne Shirley. (aka Dawn O'Day, who changed her legal name to the title character in the movie.) Personally, this version is still my favorite. If that's the...

    Camelot (1967) New Edition Needed~!

About the "magic" thing, maybe my expectations are slightly exaggerated, but all I have to go on is what I hear on the "original cast" CD. And I still say I'd give my eye teeth to have heard Julie Andrews singing "Where Are the Simple Joys..." live. Ethan: Thanks for all the insider info...

    Camelot (1967) New Edition Needed~!

Speaking of the actual theatrical performances, has there ever been available a DVD/tape of one of the actual Burton/Andrews shows? I remember seeing an old PBS show in the 80's called "Lerner & Lowe: Broadways Last Romantics" which showed some old clips from one of those performances. It...

    speaker selector/switch w/IR

Hi guys, I've been trying for some time to find a high-quality speaker selector that lets you switch speakers remotely with IR. Does anybody make one? The only one that I did find was a Xantech switch, but the connectors on this thing only seem to accept very small gage wires. Does anyone...

    The Avengers/Danger Man opinions wanted

I just recently finished watching the whole Danger Man set (courtesy of Netflix) and I thought it was amazingly well done. I thought the dialogue in particular was incredibly well written, and nearly all of the storylines were interesting. Sound was fine, but the video quality wasn't the...

Mary Tyler Moore Show: Season 2 coming in July (CONSOLIDATED DISCUSSION)

Personally, I'm glad Cathy breathes life into the thread from time to time since it's easily lost in the deluge of tv shows showing up on DVD, few of which are the equal of MTM. (I know I'm being mean, but the Punk Brewster announcement has had me seeing red ever since...) I would kill to get...

    Anyone remember Lidsville?

I'm kind of embarrased to say I liked this when I was a kid. Not nearly as much as Land of the Lost (are we EVER going to see this in a box set, by the way???) Everybody remembers Charles Nelson-Reilly in the flying hat, but who remembers that the good-guy was a teenage Eddie Munster (Butch...

    24/96 home recording

As far as the DVD-A authoring software goes, have you looked at Discwelder Steel? It claims to do stereo PCM at 24 bits up to 192KHz. For less than $500. I haven't tried it myself, but it looks like it might be fun to play with. --Imre M.
