Arrgh, Sony. They have a penchant for coming up with their own proprietary formats for everything [regardless of their technical superiority in some cases] - that end up going the way of the dodo. I think Blu - Ray is fantastic technology - but I'll go on the record to say that HD-DVD...

You'll be hard pressed to find a new "budget player" w/ the raw performance of the RP82 @ your price points. The RP82 is/was a once in an electronic life - cycle miracle :D
I would definitely second Denon's DVD players - absolutely fantastic in video output and build quality [although i'm not a fan of the xx10 series builds]. If your not using a digital display, I don't see much reason to blow your wallet on an HDMI/DVI player. Keep in mind that on an analog...
Sorry for not mentioning the display. I have a Toshiba 57HX83. Excellent responses. So thorough, and well said that I have heeded the advice and purchased a brand new 2900S. I would have preferred black, but with limited quantity; I was left with little choice. I replaced my RP82 with...
Hi all, I'm looking to replace my denon 2200 with either the 2910 or the 2900. To be completely honest, I like the build quality and looks of the 2900, but, I'm aware that the 2910 is basically using the same chip [FL 2310] found in the 3910 which has gotten rave reviews from the Secrets...
Interesting... I've listened to quite a bit of music as well as HT with Rotel product and have come away impressed. I've also heard QSC equipment being placed under the rigors of music and HT and have come away really impressed. My point? If Rotel is so low end but yields great value...
Sounds like a pretty good setup. You'll definitely want a sub, and I'm curious as to your dvd player. Monster is incredibly overrated. Continue visiting the forum, and you'll learn quite a bit about companies you may have never heard of that produce fantastic product for low costs...
Definitely sounds like improper hookup. The 630 is a very powerful receiver, and your sound should be more substantial than what you've posted. If you don't have an SPL [which is preferred], the 630 does use HK's patented EZ-set - which we'll do the trick for calibrating the sound emitted from...
wow! I have to say kincaid nailed it with this comment: "EVERY kind of mass assembled part will have defects. My buddy has been through 3 denon 3803's, and is now on a 3805..." I owned a marantz before purchasing a new HK [x30 series] as well as an HK pa5800. both HK products have...
that's exactly the kind of candid comment i was looking for greg_t. the xp30 has identical guts to my rp82 [minus the drive error], so that gives me a good idea. what kind of display do you have? see, my wonderment is in the fact that this player appears to have superior upconverting to...

this super thread is absolutely fantastic! i currently own the rp82, and have been more than satisfied with its versatility and excellent picture quality. however this upconverting player has piqued my interest for sometime - i have just not been entirely sold. the samsung hd931 was all the...

very interesting observation derek n...that could definitely be the case. it just bothers me that ecost cancelled my order. if they get more in stock - i am now forced to reorder, and we all know how difficult it can sometimes be to beat others to the punch! i'm grateful for this forum, and...
hey james, so you think its likely the 2200's will be on the block again? what about if they cancel your order? is that not a good indication that the product will no longer be available? the first time i had placed an order for one - i didn't get a confirmation; just an immediate...
man...so upset! this is the second time i tried to order the 2200. they cancelled my order saying that denon no longer plans on selling the 2200 to ecost. apparently as far as ecost was told - that's it, and denon is discontinuing the offer. i've purchased numerous products from ecost -...
i haven't posted in a while...but i've gotta chime in.
i actually currently have this amp - picked it up last fall for a great price. i love it! however...i gotta say, if i was ever going to replace it - it'd have to be a rotel.
really appreciate the feedback. i just don't want to be throwing money away. i'm aware of the video differences between the players from what i've read, but nothing real world. the 2200 uses silicon image; whilst my rp-82 is using faroudja. i'm really satisfied with my player - but i think i'm...
sounds like a great deal... i was going to jump on it, until i realized that my rp82 is rated higher than the 2200 based on secrets' research. funny, considering the 2200 is much newer, and what do you guys think?
