i would go with Harman Kardon, i think it's the best bang for the buck and is awsome for two channel music. don't be fooled by the low wattage ratings...HK under rates their receivers.
bought mine from J&R and had them match B&H's price on the S-Center. add free shipping and you can get a great deal. S312ii $250ea S36ii $200pr S26 $150pr SCENTER $140 then i got a little crazy and bought an SVS PB2+ to add a little punch. i got the S312ii's so i could listen to 2...
my vote is for the HK. the HK525 is coming down in price and is available under $600. you might be able to get a refurb for less than $500 and they are a great deal. which ever HK you get you will be happy.
in the 'not to distant past' HK had some serious QC problems, however, for the most part those problems are gone. no receiver manufacturer is 100% defect free so there isn't any promises. a good receiver should last more than 5 years but the way that technology progresses it's probably good that...
most speakers that have high sensitivity have less control and therefore are less accurate. a few exceptions like klipsch sound good. speakers like cerwin vega and DCM are efficiant but are only good for loud boomy music IMO.
i'm a big HK fan and they are some powerful receivers but there is no way in hell ANY receiver can push a 2 OHM load much less a 1 OHM load. i don't know exactly what the amp rating means except that the more amps the more reserve power (headroom) there is. remember, it's instantanious power and...
i don't know much about the Outlaw but the HK7200 a monster...i had to build a shelf (above my PRTV) just to hold the thing and still worry i'll come home one day and find it on the floor. the amp section may not be quite as nice as the Outlaw but it's still pretty damn beefy and for $1K it's...
WOW...B4+?....your neighbors will REALLY love you! sounds like you're going to have an awsome set-up. BTW, can you get me an application to where you work? i'd like to be able to spend that kind of money too and quit the sodapop stand where i get my cash!
i have heard of QC problems with the PB10, just get an extended warranty on whatever you buy...shouldn't be too much considering the amount you'll spend on the sub.
i almost bought one from a Sound Advise in my neighborhood for $950 but walked out for some unmentionable reasons. i ended up with a HK7200 for about the same price. processing may not be as good as the 3300 but the amp is alot beefier and i like the HK's warmer sound.
for the money the HK7200 CAN"T be beat. the rotel will probably have a better amp but the 7200 is ROCK solid for about $1000. the only thing i can say about the pioneer is that it might have a better processor but i wouldn't trade my HK for anything outside of a NAD or the Rotel. just my .02!
