Hey guys! I recently picked up a set of Vintage 1986 Kenwood LS-P5000k's FOR FREE!!!! They have been sitting around for YEARS unused and look great! They come with the typical 5 speakers in a box from the 80s...lol...but the one that I hooked up sounds really nice! Problem is, the 8"...

too bad it wasnt an 8 ohm sub... Looks killer...price isnt that impressive IMHO. Would you rather have one of those, or a pair of Adire Shiva/Tempests??

If the ports are not front firing that should help eliminate the port noise as well.

wow...great deal!!!! I paid 419.95 shipped for my mackie 1400i. That 2500 is cheaper and puts out nearly twice the power!! CRAZY! I'm very curious to see how it performs under some extended stress. Does it come with any onboard crossovers/subsonic filters or the like?

If its a premade box theres not too much you can do. Port noise is a result of the velocity of air in the port being too high, and or somthing in or infront of the port causing the air to "chuff" around it. Three remedies for port noise are flared ports, larger port area, and less power to...

Hmm, at the tuning frequency the cone should move very little, even if the frequency being played is 15hz. At and under the tuning the frequency the box "unloads", the port begins to REALLY blow A LOT of air, and the driver will "bottom out" given enough power. The advantage of ported boxes...

OMG...I just got my 18" RE XXX running. This thing plays 20hz like its nobodys business! 15hz-30hz sweeps are almost unbearable! *EVERYTHING* shakes. It doesnt rattle...it SHAKES. Mission: Create an insane HT sub Status: Accomplished. :emoji_thumbsup:

anthony...the box design depends completely on the driver and the goals you wish to accomplish with it. If you want more SPL, you'll want to go with a ported or Bandpass box (usually at the cost of sound quality)
