I don't know how old your Apex player is but I do know that some older decks ( late 90s ) won't even recognize DTS signals in that they were built before DTS was that common. I had a Sony 500D that did not transfer DTS signals to my AVR. This is no longer a problem since I upgraded to a Denon 5900.

Mark All, Regarding the warranty length on the Denon 5900, I got my info from listenup.com. It lists the warranty on parts and labor as 24 months. You got me as to why there are differences. Is it a matter of who you buy it from?

The 5900 has a 24 month warranty on both parts and labor. Sorry, it is not 12 months as has been stated. What is the warranty on the Samsung?

You're right, if you know someone you can get the 5900 for 1500/1600. I know, I did.And it was an authorized dealer. And was a special order.
