Infocus DLP projector with rainbow effect

My experience with rainbows on my Samsung HLN507W tracks wiht NickSo's. At first I saw them fairly regularly, but now after 6 months I almost never notice them. I can *make* myself see them, but I almost never notice them otherwise. We are adaptable creatures.

    Predictions anyone?

I honestly think that CRT rear projectors are about as cheap as they're going to get. There aren't any revolutionary cost-saving technologies in the pipeline, and economies of scale have already kicked in. Maybe a little lower, but not much. DLP and LCD rear projectors will likely drop maybe...

I'm a believer! Lp's really do sound better!

Interesting discussion! I don't buy into a lot of the traditional arguments for vinyl being superior to CDs. Digital is a pretty good technology, and the output of a digital system is a continuous analog waveform with remarkable fidelity to the original source (not a bunch of 1s and 0s)...

Official DVD ETC. review request thread -- request equipment reviews here!

Hi, Suggestion for not so much a review, as a topic for an article or series of articles. I've never seen an article on "Futureproofing Your System" which brings together developments here and on the horizon (BlueRay, copy protection interfaces, digital links for hi-rez SACD and DVD-Audio...

Hello DVDetc, I wondered why your magazine seems to like everything! When I saw the first issue of your mag, I thought you were some kind of industry publication; and "advertorial" if you will. My personal opinion: I often learn more from negative or mixed reviews that positive ones. I think...

    Did I go TOO big??

David, I do think you're right about distance being our friend in terms of a comfortable viewing experience. When the screen is more distant, your eyes don't have to move as far off "center" to move around and catch the action. Closer screens mean you're making larger movements with your eyes...

    Did I go TOO big??

It is quoted: Fact 1: You can't get a screen too big. Fact 2: You *can* sit too close. Contradictory? Given that most people can sit only so far back from their screen before they go out a window or through a wall, you can indeed get a screen that's too big for any given viewing distance...

    Did I go TOO big??

I really think it's irresponsible to make the blanket statement that it's impossible to get a screen that's too big. If that were true, everyone in the movie theater would be fighting over the front rows. Instead, you see folks choosing to sit in various rows to accommodate their personal...
