Dave and Bob, so sorry to hear of your troubles. But thanks for the reality check. I'm far from rich but I am comfortable. Job is secure, as long as my body can handle the work load for another 8-9 years. Although, with the way I spend money my old joke is when I'm 70 I'll be standing at the...
Walter Becker has passed away at the age of 67. Steely Dan is one of my favorites. Any time I'm feeling down or life has me overwhelmed, I don't reach for a drug or a bottle, I reach for an album. Usually Aja or The Royal Scam (possibly the most under-rated album of the 70's)...
I always thought Dish, DirecTv and cable would fight each other to be the first with the most 4K content which would accelerate 4K display sales but that doesn't seem to be happening. Guess I was wrong...again.
I still buy discount dvd's on occasion. Usually tv shows, older movies or concerts...
MCACC (at least before Onkyo got a hold of it) is the most user-friendly of all the auto-setups. You can set the speaker size and crossover settings before running it.
But first, select the #1 MCACC pre-set. It's just easier to start with #1, MCACC will use the first three presets. Then go...
Favorite album is hard enough, assuming you can even pick one of those. Favorite song of all time is near impossible. Changes too often. I said "And You And I" by Yes 10 years ago and it would still be in the rotation today as well as other long, meandering compositions like Close To The Edge...
They'll probably be fine. The advent of HDMI has rendered analog audio and video cables to the dust bin. If you want something better for not much more here is what ac4l has to offer.

Nothing wrong with...
A little late to the party but the amps in the IL50 and IL60 nave a known issue with one of the resistors. Supposedly it's and easy fix.

This one is also very popular and on the smaller side, but currently out of stock.

Just noticed this on their site today. The 1124, 1130 and vsx-80 are pretty decent deals.

They also carry Elac now as well.
I also have the Catalog of American Cars 1976-1999 and the Standard Catalog of Imported Cars 1946-1990. The internet's great but there's nothing like a good ol' book to finger through.
My two 4-doors cars were a 2001 Jaguar XJ8 which was recently replaced by a 2004 XJ8. My brother calls them...
My older brother had a '63 Galaxy 500XL but it was a two-door hard-top. When I was in high school (mid '70's) I swore I'd never own a four-door or a car with hub caps. Well, I've owned two cars with hub caps but both were two-doors, and two four-door cars but both had stock aluminum or chrome...
A bit late to the party but a quick look through my Standard Catalog Of American Cars - 1946 thru 1975 (and I do mean a quick look) shows the Chevy Impala/Caprice at 1.2 million, Ford Galaxy at 1.035 million, the Mustang at 607,500, the Chevy Malibu at 375,000 and the Ford Fairlane at 325,000...
First off, sorry for the late response.
Second, after reading my original reply, I come across as rather "curt", quite rude actually. I'm feeling somewhat embarrassed. Yikes!
Audeyssey, and some Yamaha models, use up to 8 mic positions to smooth out the frequency response throughout...
First off, no need to apologize for this thread or posting in it. If one member learns something from it then it's proved itself.
Anyway, I also have Siatica. Once you have a bad back you always have a bad back. It might not hurt all the time but it could start up again at any time. I was off...
That's great to hear! Especially since the Pyle stereo receiver I begged my brother not to buy for his garage is an absolute pyle of (edited for legal reasons...but you get the jist). :)
First off, I think you made a good choice with the BIC's. You're right about there not being much info on them. Sam seems to recommend them a lot and I really need to try a pair someday, But I've been saying that for years now!
Anyway, congrats on the DIY stands. You can get a lot of ideas...
I think you're looking for something like this. http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-sub-1000l-10-100-watt-low-profile-powered-subwoofer--300-639?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=pla
It can't possibly perform as well as what you have, but I'm sure you knew that already...
Yamaha's "Scene" buttons are great but I didn't care for how the rest of the features worked. Not bad, just different than what I'm used to.
I also agree that Marantz is the easiest to use of the major brands. Very good remotes as well.
A simple version of a Harmony remote is another nice...
I'm not a huge basketball fan but living in the Bay Area it's kind of hard not to pay attention to what the Warriors are doing. But some back-lash is starting to occure in some other parts of the country. People are getting tired of hearing about how they are playing and are beginning to hope...
Congrats on the new receiver! Hope it works out well for you.
As for MCACC, I've never been crazy about any of these room correction programs. They can be beneficial but often times they are not. I usually run the program, double-check the settings and then re-adjust the eq a bit afterwards...
The HDX466 speakers are rated at 3 ohms. The speakers that came with the FC7 are 4 ohm so the FC7 receiver might have some issues with the HDX466 speakers, especially when listening at higher volumes.
You would also have to make sure the proprietary connections are compatible. These types of...
$70 for two more years seems kind of steep to me, but $499 for a new 737 is a good price. A refurb from ac4l.com ($399) comes with a one year warranty. 4 more years (5 total) is $55. That seems a bit better.
Only time I've paid for an extended warranty was on my first RPTV, a 55" Apex from...
The two main things that keep a subwoofer from working are using Pure Direct with an analog source and having the front speakers set to Large in the speaker setup menu. Try those two things and report back :) .
The 435 was a pretty decent receiver in it's day but these things are generally not worth repairing as the cost would wind up being about the same as buying another one.
Maybe something like a Yamaha 479? You can some money by buying last years models, when available.
I'm sure another refurb...
Not sure what you mean about adjusting "the bias" . Mis-spelling perhaps?
For the 435 shutting off, make sure there aren't any stray speaker wires touching each other or the receivers chassis. Check the speakers connections as well. But it could very well mean something wrong in the 435's amp...
I think had a pair of RT25i's a few years ago, or something similar, and thought they were very bright. I didn't care for them either.
I had a magnet fall of the back of a tweeter from an old MB Quart speaker. Seller offered me a partial refund and ebay said "take it" so I did. Just putting the...
Soe receivers have a feature called "Double Bass". With the Fronts set Large and the Sub set to Double Bass then the bass frequencies for the Fronts speakers are sent to both the Fronts and the Suwoofer. That should equate to "more bass".
Put Ultron back in the player, disconnect one of the new jbls and see if it still cuts out. Then hook it back up and un-hook the other one. Only way to tell if it's one of those or something else.
And, since the JBL's are new to the system, try disconnecting them, one at a time next. There could also be a loose wire inside of one of them. Might have happened during shipping maybe?
