i wish i could post some pictures i took of the damage...but i guess i can't. pictures are at the bottom of page 2 and top of page 3 in this link ( http://www.anyoneseenthebridge.com/m...hreadid=262595 ) i wasn't there to witness the destruction, but apparently the speaker fell completely...
my idiot roommate's alcoholic father decided to get hammered at her graduation party and knocked over one of my Monitor 11s. from the looks of things, the speaker completely toppled over and hit the corner of a wall. a pretty big chunk of the wall is missing, but more importantly, there's a...
well, i tried switching to DPL2 MUSIC today and it seemed to work. music came out of the Center and both mains. nothing from the surrounds, but that may have been because the movie didn't call for it at the time that i was testing. i'll check it out more later on. i wonder why it won't work...
roger - you above guess are, in fact, correct. i've got the DVD player running S-Video to the Receiver. then I have the Receiver running S-Video to the TV. then i have a normal RCA cable running the TV audio into the Receiver. the cable outlet goes from the wall to the television. -tv doesn't...
hmm - i'll definitely try that. i know about the width feature, but i didn't realize that i could have it set to music mode and have it still work for tv. roommates are asleep now, so i'll try it tomorrow. there was an HBO movie on tonite and it said at the beginning it was presented in 5.1 -...
this weekend, some idiot got a few drops of beer or soda or something on one of my paradigms. now there are a couple little sticky spots on the speaker wood. is there anything in particular i should or shouldn't use to clean it off? would any kind of furniture polish work?
thanks for all the replies, everyone. i'm still working on the DPL2 issue, but i definitely have a much better understanding of stereo, direct, fulrange, anaog, etc...!
Chuck - i appreciate the reply. couple questions, though... - what exactly do you mean when you say that if the speakers are small in the speaker setup menu, they'll be small in Stereo mode? i have my speakers set to small, but i'm not sure what it means to "be small in Stereo mode" - i...
i've been trying to experiment with the Pro Logic II feature...but i only seem to be getting sound from the center channel when i'm watching tv in Pro Logic II mode. then i watched a movie tonite, and i was checking out some of the special features and noticed that the Digital light was lit when...
yeah, that's the one. when i asked a buddy, he just told me that in the Stereo setting, the music is split between the right and left channel. but with Direct mode, the same thing is coming out of each speaker...with no split
thanks, michael. i've have to keep playing around with it, i suppose. i just have basic cable - so i'll have to keep an eye out for which programs broadcast in Dolby. what do you think of the whole Direct vs. Stereo thing?
i was just told that "Stereo" separates the audio into left and right channels, but "Direct" puts all the music through both speakers. what do you guys think? also, i was watching tv tonite, and wanted to try out the Dolby Pro Logic II feature. i flipped it on while watching a movie on...
thanks, michael oh yeah, one more thing... is Direct only intended for 2 channel sources, as well? i listen to music in stereo (sometimes 5 channel, but usually just "stereo") - will Direct produce music from the 2 fronts and sub, like stereo does?
very helpful info, as always... one last question - if i want to watch tv (analog signal) in surround sound, as opposed to 5 channel stereo, would i want to go with Pro Logic II or DTS Neo:6? or is it pointless to use Neo:6 with my 5.1 setup?
well, you guys have done it again! i thought that my DVD manual said that "bitstream" was the default setting, but it turns out that i misread it and had to turn it on myself. problem solved. thanks, all! also - could someone give me a quick overview on when it's best to use each setting...
Just checked the manual, and it doesn't say anything about having to turn on the DTS feature also...when i switch the input mode on the receiver from Auto to DTS...i get no sound at all. :frowning:
this weekend i watched Adaptation, and the audio setup menu had 3 choices: Dolby Digital Dolby DTS Dolby Surround it's weird, because both my receiver and dvd player support DTS. the Adaptation DVD menu has the option for Dolby DTS, but when the movie starts playing after i select...
sorry to keep posting...but just to clarify: A = all 5 speakers AND the sub work B = only the sub works should i have just A selected, or both A and B? if the sub works in A mode, will it make a difference if i select B as well?
ok..that helps a bit, but i'm still a bit confused in some areas 1) when i have the B switch activated, i hear the subwoofer and nothing else. but the sub also works when i have A activated. so am i missing out on anything by not having B selected in ADDITION to A? 2) for the Dolby Pro...
i've got a Denon AVR-2802, and i have most of it figured out, but i had a few questions as far as settings go - 1) Should i have just Speaker A selected, or should i have both A and B selected? i have a 5.1 set up. when i have JUST speaker B selected, all the music comes from the subwoofer...
is there a way to shuffle mp3 tracks on data cds? for parties, i like to make a data cd with a hundred songs on it, then shuffle them up so they don't play in alphabetical order. last night i was trying to figure out how to shuffle the tracks...but with no luck. please tell me this unit has the...
quick question... there's something wrong with the cable in my entire apartment complex. there are 2 specific channels that will sort of "feed back" when there is too much of the color white on the screen. it kind of makes this crappy, loud, hard to describe sound. i wonder if that sound is...
