I was about to buy Avia based on peoples comments on ease of use vs DVE. I noticed that that avia is 1.33 aspect and DVE is 1.78 aspect. Will they do both though? I plan on using the Avia for a projector and 16:9. Does the 1.33 aspect affect this at all? Also what the kit called Monster/ISF...
couldn't decide which section to post this in so I hope this will be the right one. Anyone have Comcast and there HDTV box? What is the connection? HDMI or DVI? I can't find the specs on their website. I am going to be running a projector AE900 or HD72. The AE900 doesn't support DVI so if the...
I been looking at RPTV's for a while and I think I am now changing my mind and would rather have a FP being 70% movies 20% tv and 10% games (xbox, ps2, etc). I'd like to stay at $2,000 range. The room it will be going in is 16.5'L X 11'W X 8'H. I would be viewing length wise. My dvd...
I have read that the samsungs have a delay with games. I have not witnessed it first hand though. So if you're gaming a lot the Samsung might not be something you want. I would definitely test one before purchasing.
Thank you for the replies! I didn't know that about Toshiba thats very interesting. Does the same go for there DLP RP Tv's? I was actually looking at there 62" DLP. Now I am not so sure.
We're looking for a cheap/decent 27" CRT with no vcr or dvd built in to put in the family room. Found a 27" flat screen sharp for $229. Just want to make sure its not an "RCA" and go out after a year. Should I stick to proven brand like Sony or Toshiba when it comes to CRT?
I been reading Samsung DLP RP reviews and one of the complaints is there is a delay between the gaming console (PS2, Xbox) and the TV . Do you know if this is Samsung specific or is this a problem with all the DLP RP's?
I tried doing a search and didn't really turn up much info. Should I be worried about getting a tv with a HD3 chip versus one with HD2+ can anyone explain the differences? Will all the new models have the HD2+?
If a DVD player is HDMI does this eliminate Composite cables? or does it run off both? I have digital cable, does my box need to have hdmi connection? should I call the cable company? What if the TV has a built in HDtuner does this matter?
thank for the replies again. The room this is going in will be my bonus room. The dimensions are about 10.5 feet wide and about 20 feet long. So I'm figuring viewing distance to be about 15-18 feet. I haven't ruled out a Projector but, it just seems like a wiring nightmare as I would...
I have a positive comment about one of the BB workers I ran into a couple years ago. I wish I remembered his name. I was looking into Surround sound and didn't know much about it (before I found this site). I was looking at receivers and the person working in that department actually told me...
Thanks, those were the responses I was looking for. I realize I will have to view them all before the final decision I just wanted an idea on what I should be looking for and to narrow down what I should be looking at. I will check out the LCD's. I don't see any rainbows on teh DLP's that I've...
I am just starting to learn about the world of big screen TV's its all pretty confusing to me still. I have a $2500 budget for a tv that will be 80% movies 20% tv/sports. I want a 50"+ because I don't want to regret goign to small. That pretty much rules out a Plasma screen I would assume. I...
Update: Looks like he only has the speakers left and he wants $460 for: Athena AS-F1 Front full range speaker/pair, Athena AS-B1 Rear full range bookshelf speaker/pair, Athena AS-C1 center channel speaker, I priced this at bestbuy and its $779 for that set. Is this now a better...
Thank you thats what I was looking for. If I can better for the same budget then its not a great deal ;) Have any recommendations based on that budget? If I could get away with keeping my reciever (Denon 682;• 70 watts per channel into 8 ohms,
wasn't sure what was the appropriate forum to post this in and since I am beginner still I thought this was best place. Curious if this is a good deal or not. I currently have a Denon AVR-682 Home Box system that I bought almost 3 years ago now. Its been pretty good for me, but if this is a good...
Besides the obvious of running the wire through the walls, what are some other tricks you have used to hide the speaker wire as best as possible so people don't notice it? Running along the floor isn't an option as its hardwood floors. any pictures of what others have done would be great. I was...
thank for the replies. Yes pergo are a hardwood floor. I guess i will wait and see how bright it is with a white ceiling and go from there. Thanks for the input!
well today I offically got my first house. We don't move in until labor day weekend so I got a week to paint. My basement (family room)where my home theater will go has pergo floors. I have decided on to go with a Blueish grey color so its not too bright on the eyes and not too dark at the...
About a year ago when I purchased my first HT I did as much research as I could. During my research I noticed internal design "flaws" from one brand to another. I talked to a non commissioned person at Best buy. He directed me away from all of there recievers that the sell believe it or not. He...
Thank you both ! I thought monster cable was pretty rediculously priced. I will check out the Depot! Also I didn't even think about a tuning tool for the speakers. Where can I learn more info on this? what should I search for on these forums? I am guessing in the tweaking section? or if you...
I just bought a house and it has a family room in the basement that is going to be my TV room. The room is about 14'x 12' Has white walls, and pergo floors. My current system: TV: Toshiba 32" flat screen PS2: with Monster s-video cable Reciever: Denon AVR-1802 Speakers: 5.1 Denon...
