Like Chu said.Does the sub still hum when there are no inputs connected?If no,try a better sub cable.If yes,you will have to try another outlet.Also try taking sub to another room and plug into outlet(no inputs).If hum is still there,it must be an internal problem with sub.

For subs under 2000,there is a wide range.What have you auditioned so far?What is the max size enclosure your looking for?

I do agree with Alex on waiting on the sub.You can audition subs later.I do believe 430.00 is high for the PDR 12.For another 150 you can get a SVS 25-31 pci.

I still believe a fan will generate noise.This could come back through the receiver and cause noise problems.I may be wrong but have you ever read in a receiver manual where it tells you to plug a fan in it?This is just my thoughts on the subject.You should be able to find another outlet to plug...

Mike,The setup I listed should be around 1800.00.When you go to the dealer you should ba able to get 10 to 15% off.I contacted my dealer before they closed today and the price was 1790.00 and said if I bought the whole list they could give me 10 to 15% off.My dealer also may have priced me there...

I would go B&W also.I would also look into if the speakers you buy now can be moved to HT for later.Makng sure there matching centers, rears, etc.That way if you decide on a HT system down the road,you can go from what you already have.Just a thought.:D

Being a long time fan of Denon.I would pick the Denon.But, it will be your choice.Which one has the better features that you would use the most?Personally I always try to buy new electronics which could be one of your deciding factors.Good luck deciding.

For music I would go with the Marantz SR-18.Very musical receiver.

within the 500-800.00 budget I would recommend two pairs of Paradigm Atoms and a Paradigm CC170 center.Then when more money comes available add a sub.Just my .02 worth.

Brad,personally I would use stands for my front main speakers.Stands can help the speakers out more than wall mounting them.The rears would probably sound good on the wall for surround sound.You might want to measure your speakers and then hold them up to ear level from your listening position...
