SVS owners.. how long did it take to irritate the wife?

Don't have a wife. But I PO the neighbors 10 minutes after hooking sub up.And I was calibrating it when the knock on the door happened.:D

    Subwoofer Buzzing Away-Help!

Like Chu said.Does the sub still hum when there are no inputs connected? If no,try a better sub cable. If yes,you will have to try another outlet. Also try taking sub to another room and plug into outlet(no inputs). If hum is still there,it must be an internal problem with sub.

    Music Only

For subs under 2000,there is a wide range. What have you auditioned so far? What is the max size enclosure your looking for?

just got myself a Paradigm system...(suggestions wanted)

I do agree with Alex on waiting on the sub.You can audition subs later.I do believe 430.00 is high for the PDR 12.For another 150 you can get a SVS 25-31 pci.

    switched outlet

I still believe a fan will generate noise. This could come back through the receiver and cause noise problems.I may be wrong but have you ever read in a receiver manual where it tells you to plug a fan in it?This is just my thoughts on the subject. You should be able to find another outlet to plug...

just got myself a Paradigm system...(suggestions wanted)

Mike,The setup I listed should be around 1800.00.When you go to the dealer you should ba able to get 10 to 15% off.I contacted my dealer before they closed today and the price was 1790.00 and said if I bought the whole list they could give me 10 to 15% off.My dealer also may have priced me there...

What do you think of these 3 speaker choices, kef, boston, b&w?

I would go B&W also.I would also look into if the speakers you buy now can be moved to HT for later.Makng sure there matching centers, rears, etc. That way if you decide on a HT system down the road, you can go from what you already have.Just a thought.:D

just got myself a Paradigm system...(suggestions wanted)

Mike, forgot to mention. You can cut your cost by going with diff. rears. The ADP 370's are very pricey. And as far as sub you can go with the PDR 12 for now.Which should cut cost even more.Try this setup CC 370 Monitor 7'S Mini's for rears PDR 12 Sub I've had that setup for a year until 6...

just got myself a Paradigm system...(suggestions wanted)

I would also get the CC-370 for timbre matching across the front. The rears will be a toss up until you can get them up and running.I started out with the ADP's,but learned very fast they were not going to work in my room.I took them back and got mini's for rears. If you listen to any type of...

    Upgrade to New system

Dan,making the move to a SVS sub will make your HT exper. more exciting than ever before.Yes,it does have a low WAF.Do you have a nice corner you can "hide" it in?LOL Or you can try one of there box subs which are also getting good reviews.

    switched outlet

Plugging a fan into a receiver outlet is a bad idea.

    Calibration question

Does your receiver allow you to adjust inputs while using the disc?Or does your receiver go into internal test tones when making changes?I think your on the right track you just need to know what test tones you are adjusting. My Denon will let me adjust the inputs using the disc. But my Marantz...

    Surpge Protector or power supply?

What is your budget? With all the gear you listed I would chose something like a Monster Cable Power Bar 1100.Has enough outlets for all the gear you listed.Has surge and clean power.I think they retail for around 200.00 but probably could be found on ebay new for around 150 to 175.00.I...

my first home theater system: help me save a little money

There is a Toshibs dvd player in your 200.00 or below price range that is progressive scan.It does not play SACD but it does play dvd audio.Nice unit for under 200.00 and has gotten many great reviews.Toshiba SD 4800 is the model number if you want to check up on it.BTW, if your looking at SACD...

    Denon 1603 or Onkyo 575x

Being a long time fan of Denon.I would pick the Denon. But, it will be your choice.Which one has the better features that you would use the most?Personally I always try to buy new electronics which could be one of your deciding factors.Good luck deciding.

    New Surround System

within the 500-800.00 budget I would recommend two pairs of Paradigm Atoms and a Paradigm CC170 center. Then when more money comes available add a sub.Just my .02 worth.

    Home theater noob. questions

Brad, personally I would use stands for my front main speakers.Stands can help the speakers out more than wall mounting them. The rears would probably sound good on the wall for surround sound. You might want to measure your speakers and then hold them up to ear level from your listening position...

    Effect of receiver on TV

Karl, unless you don't have many inputs for your tv to support all your gear.I would hook all my dvd players sat box etc. directly to the tv.This way you will know you will be getting the best picture possible.Only if I didn't have enough inputs on your tv would I start connecting gear through my...

    Opinions on my new system

Wow this is great news William!!!If you talk to your Paradigm dealer you should be able to walk away with a nice system in the same price range. The Paradigm dealer should be able to walk through which setup would be right for you.Its nice to see you have seen the light!!!!!!!!:D

    avia calibration help

Yes you are correct.Once you start using the video setup of the disc you will have to adjust from your tv menu. And audio you adjust your settings through the receiver if you have one.You will have to check the way your tv names the differant settings.Black level could be named something...

Home Theater System in a box

Russel, with the market now being flooded with HTIB.I would go demo many systems as possible and decide what have features that you would use the most.Examples would be ease of install, remote being user friendly etc.Denon,Onkyo and Sony make nice HTIB.As far as finding a system in your price...

Can't hear my ADP-170's. Need placement advice.

Will and Donnie have very good troubleshooting tips I would check into first. If those two tips don't solve problem.I would shoot for another pair of Atoms for rears.

Titans vs Atoms: worth $30 more for HT?

Josh,I really feel that if you get a second pair of Atoms and buy the wall mounts for them you will be much happier with your system.Several years back I tried the ADP 170's and I got the same results you have.Try the Atoms in the rear and you will probably be satisfied.Good Luck

    Paradigm Monitor Price

Wow seven hour drive!I agree with Wiggles.I would try to find a dealer closer to me also.So if there were any problems.I also noticed the prices looked Ok except on the monitor 7's.When I upgraded my mains 3 months ago,I got the 7's for 639.00 a pair new.Hopefully when you purchase you can get a...
