I personally would go with a nice stereo reciever and a decent set of bookshelves. Pick up a decent DVD player with it. What comes to mind are the JBL S26II's from jandr.com a real good deal at 150 a pair with free shipping. For a receiver I would look at the Denon DRA-685 you can find...
As a poor college student, my budget is certainly under 200. I have been looking at the Denon CD Players to match with my current setup. The DCM-370 looks like a great CD player for the money. I cant find any denon CD players on ecost.com though. Maybe it was just a special.
I recently bought a Denon DRA-685 stereo reciever paired with a set of JBL S-26II's for my college dorm room. i am currently running the system off of my computer/portable CD player but the sound coming from both of these is lacking. What would be a good CD player to look into to match with my...
I recently bought a DRA685 refurbished from a seller off of eBay and when I change input sources or mute the receiver, it makes a sort of clicking noise. Is this common with these transistor receivers or should I pick up the phone and call Denon?
That might not be too good because my receiver is rated at 100 wpc. and those are rated at 50w continuous. I found on jandr.com that the S26's are 150 with free shipping. Im leaning toward those right now, with the mirages coming in second.
First of all, I want to thank you all for your responses. I am on a pretty tight budget and I would like to stay under 300 for my speakers. I looked at Wharfdale 8.1's because of the good rating as well as the Axiom line. does anyone have an opinion on these speakers?
I recently bought a Denon DRA 685 for music listening in my dorm room and I have yet to find speakers to go on the receiver. I have listened to Titans and some Boston bookshelves, both seemed lacking in different areas. Basically, I need a recommendation for a good set of bookshelf speakers...
Well I decided to spend a little more money then I originally planned because of some financial good fortune (my work study was not subtracted from my bill yet :) ) and I have actually gone and bought a Denon DRA685. I traveled about an hour to hear the Paradigms and all that his store had in...
well, its coming along pretty good. So far I think Im going to get a Harman Kardon 3370 for my receiver. Im still kind of stuck with the whole speaker thing. Ive looked at PSB's, Paradigm's and I saw a speaker company called Acoustic Energy on eBay. Are these Acoustic Energy speakers any...
There isnt really anyone where I live who is into home audio. So its gonna be a little tough to find a receiver. I live in a 17,000 person hick town. :) Ive actually been looking at the Onkyo 8211 Reciever (refurbished) that runs about 100 from J&R. Have you (or anyone else) had any...
Hi, Im new here and new to Home Audio in general. I've created a decent sounding stereo in my car and I would like a stereo in my dorm room equal to that. Im looking for a stereo setup rather than a surround sound setup because of the cost difference. My DVD player is on my computer so if it...
