    Onkyo TXSR601 or Yamaha HTR-5760

Once again I throw myself to the feet of the audiophiles. They have yet to steer me wrong and I have one last question to ask. I get an early christmas present since my old Denon pooped out (stupid microprocessor) and needed to decide between these 2. Anyone have any experience with the two or...

Denon 3802 dying...need help with the diagnosis, doctor!

My 3300 has the same probably. Finally went belly up this weekend and now only works in stereo mode. For awhile when it would poop out on me I could stomp next to the floor or move the receiver and it would start working again. After much research on audioreview.com I found that it has to do...

Need a Subwoofer for a Frat House

My fraternity just gave me $500 dollars to get us a subwoofer for our party room which is about 40 feet by 40 feet and I have no idea where to begin. I think that the quality of the sub is less important as the loudness of it. Its going to only be used for DJ's/parties so getting something that...

About to take the plunge on Fluance...

You'll like it. So far I don't have any complaints from my fluances.

What's going on with my system??

Yes, I did tell my receiver I was driving small fronts. Does it matter which input on my sub I plug the sub cable into. There are two (red and white) and I only have one sub-out on my receiver or do I need to get a Y adapter?

    Subwoofer cable question

I had a similiar question. I have one sub output on my receiver, but I have two places (red and white) on the sub where I can plug it into. Does it really matter which one I plug it into or if I use a Y adapter?

What's going on with my system??

Ok. I thought that since I had everything set up with regular RCA I'd buy some better ones so I went out and bought some Monster Cables and that didn't help. Is it possible that the sub (JBL 12") is causing this because it doesn't happen without my sub attached. Also, I have my sub output set at...

Hey the White van guys tried to sell speakers to me. Ha, ha, ha

Another vote for Fluance. Proud owner of the SV-10's and the dipole surrounds.

What's going on with my system??

Ok, I'm a newbie and I'm not sure if my amp is shutting itself off or what is going on. When I am listening to my speakers at reasonably high volumes the sound shuts off and then all that I receive is static unless I let the receiver sit for 10-15 minutes. I tried doing searches and looking in...

    Which Sub to Get?

Thanks Curt, For awhile there I thought that it was going to be a sad day because no Home theater forum guru's were going to lend a hand. Appreciate it.

    Which Sub to Get?

I am looking for an economy sub ($100-$200) and have narrowed it to these choices. Sony SA-WM500 or Sony SA-WM40 or Acoustic Research S112PS Anyone have any experience or reviews of any of these? Let me know what you think.

I have this same DVD player and it works well. Progressive Scan, screen saver. Nice addition to any Home theater.

Budget setup Fluance, JBL NSP1, Onk SKSHT510, or Acoustic Research HC6

Pround Owner of Fluance speakers and from first hand experience I would have to say you cannot spend your money in a better way. They arrived in 3-4 days, have a good warranty, and came double boxed. Also they don't look cheap at all. I had friends over the other day (of course they weren't...

    Budget Home Theatre

It depends on how serious you would like to get about Home Theater. If you plan on trying to build a nice one, then I would just buy a receiver and two very good front speakers and then slowly add on from there.

    really cheap speakers

Have you tried Fluance? Fluance are inexpensive (really inexpensive) but they sound surprisingly good. Better than anything you would pick up at radio shack.

Train derailment might have damaged my incoming Fluance speaker package

Perrin, I'm very pleased with my speakers so far. I'm a newbie and their great beginning speakers but when compared with Polk RTI800's I can't tell the difference. In Movies they sound awesome, same thing with Music. You definately have to get a Sub though to fully appreciate them.

What do I need to get DTS?

Thanks, that may be the case. Stereo RCA's that is. I just have whatever I had laying around the house to hook them up. I was planning on going out and buying some better cables anyway and it looks like I'll have an excuse now. I'll try it and let you know

What do I need to get DTS?

I'm pretty new to this entire Home Theater business and I when I set up DTS on DVD's I don't get any sound. I guess my question is, does DTS only work if you have an optical cable hooked up. I have my DVD player (Sony DVP-NS715P) hooked up with regular RCA-Type plugs. Also, my TV is old as hell...

Train derailment might have damaged my incoming Fluance speaker package

They'll probably be all right. When I received my fluance speakers I had to have like 3 people just help me unpack them they were packaged so well. By the way, for the price that I paid, my speakers rock. Sv-10 Dipole Surrounds AV-SC Center Channel

I bought my first home theater speakers

yeah, I found them for half the price of other places. I think they are 5.85 for a set of RCA banana plugs. At Circuit City and best buy they were 9.99. When you have to buy 10 sets it really helps you out.

For speaker wire go to Home Depot. .34 cents a foot is tough to beat for 12 gauge.

    fluance sx-htb vs. fluance av-htb

I just purchased some fluance speakers but decided to go an alternate route. I purchased the SV-10, the dipole surrounds, and the better center channel. So far it sounds great and would recommend it highly. oh, yeah, it cost me about 500 total shipped.
