Very happy. Was going to get Seventh Seal blu-ray, but I don't want to get it and find out my player can't handle Region A...
Seen (Bold) 8 Own (*) 1 The Stepford Wives (2004) The Score (2001) ... aka The Score (Germany) * Bowfinger (1999) 9/10 In & Out (1997) 7/10 The Indian in the Cupboard (1995) HouseSitter (1992) 4/10 What About Bob? (1991) 9.5/10 Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988) 9/10 Little Shop of...
Not at all. I buy the DVD for the film, not the trailers. Even if they're on the disc, I'll probably watch them once (if that) and not bother about them again. Sure, for completists' sake they're essential, but in all reality they're rather superfluous. Except of course they're the...
Wow. I'm not so much a big 'Blade Runner' fan, so for me this is the DVD I'd buy if I could only buy one this year. Kudos to Warners (although not for the excrutiating wait ;) )
I'm not bummed by a lack of a Hanks commentary. I doubt he'll be snubbed in the 2nd disc extras. And besides, has he even ever done a commentary before? That specs list (including the extra 50 minutes in the DC) is the best DVD news of the year, for me anyway. Bring on May!
One thing I forgot to make mention of is how *great* the soundtrack to this film is. The crew who wrote the songs (including Tom Hanks himself) really excelled in churning out songs that wouldn't have seemed out of place in the early-to-mid 60s. Sure, the soundtrack isn't 'Abbey Road' or...
Count me in as another who'll buy this in a heartbeat. Saw it at the cinemas when first released and have watched my (practically) bare-bones edition numerous times. "Oh, I'm not here with these fellas. I've got a pig in competition over at the livestock pavilion, and I am going to win that...
If the missing bumpers are what's keeping people from buying this set then something tells me they're just looking for an excuse not to hand over the cash. It's not like they cut out the Weekend Updates or the musical acts - it's a still frame that's missing. I agree that cutting them makes...
A bit excessive maybe - but for fans of the show it'd be dvd gold! http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/790842 Will probably hold the record until the entire run of 'Coronation Street' gets put on the market ;)
You've got to be kidding me?!?
It could have a picture of a toothless and wandering Margot Kidder circa 1996 on the cover and it won't change a thing about what's inside the case!
Maybe it was replaced with something better??
I think people should just sit on their hands and wait until they can see the film before they say Donner has stuffed the 'Donner Cut' and run down a list of things they would've done differently or better, or how because a certain scene isn't in it...
Hi all, Picked up my R4 copy of 'Slither' this morning and the insert has some details on the 'Miami Vice' release, due on November 29. - Audio Commentary with Director Michael Mann - Deleted Scenes & outtakes - Multiple Camera Angles - Pre-production - Real World High-tech Global...
From AICN; http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com/display.cgi?id=24212 "The new DVD release of Apocalypse Now has been criticized by completists for not including the "Heart of Darkness" documentary. Coppola said that he didn't want to include the documentary because he considered it a separate...
From http://hollywood-elsewhere.com/archi...lypse_agai.php "I am trying to get Francis to release HEARTS OF DARKNESS on DVD. He feels that it is not a flattering portrait of himself. I have told him it makes him look heroic. Any die-heard fans out there of Coppola or APOCALYPSE NOW, I all...
In regards to what's spread over the discs - the above tells me that the full Redux cut is NOT included in the set, only the significant scenes added to it. If Redux is not present, then a two-disc set seems about right, if it is, then it should be more than two discs and the 'Added and...
Thanks to Warners for their ongoing participation in the HTF. There isn't any law to say they need to front up here annually and answer our questions - so the fact they do is much appreciated. With regards to Mr Bltyhe at Paramount - what would people rather, a person who listens to requests...
Not to be a dunce or anything... But wasn't the festival three days long? And didn't they film all the performances? Plus all the stuff not to do with what was going on stage? I'm all for a set - but this could be a record 164-disc set!
Add me to the list of those that loved this movie. I wasn't expecting much, as I'm not a fan of either Bloom or (especially) Dunst, but for some reason the film just got to me in a way I can't explain at all. Mark this down for me as the biggest DVD viewing surprise of the year. 4/5 for...
Maybe it's just me, but 14 discs for a Superman set is bordering on overkill - especially considering that it will include 'Superman III' and 'Superman IV', both of which are movies that don't necessarilly scream out "gimme a special edition!" Having said that - I'll still probably buy it :)...
The best film I've seen in the last 12 months. Proof that Robert Downey Jr hasn't lost it, proof that Val Kilmer knows how to have fun, and proof that Michelle Monaghan is easy on the eyes :) Can't wait for the DVD release!
I'm normally a critic of Aussie films (we just don't make enough good ones), but I'm always lost for words when trying to describe my love for this movie. The best Aussie film of all time. The Mad Max trilogy (well, maybe just the first two) are great, brilliant even, but Gallipoli is almost...
My first were three that came with my player when I bought it in 2001; 'Die Hard' 'X-Men' 'There's Something About Mary' The first title I actually bought myself was 'Year of the Horse' That same player has only just died, but I suppose that's what you can expect when you literally...
Well, I don't know about derogatory :) I can be the biggest fanboy when it comes to things, I'm not sure about any books or movies, but for people such as Neil Young, yeah sure, I'm a fanboy. I think of a fanboy as someone who is so deeply 'into' something that their reactions are generally...
Way to go, good for you - all that stuff. I don't care if you didn't like the movie, don't care if you did like the movie. My point (which wasn't actually directed towards you, FYI) is that there are never going to be people happy with literary adaptations, simply because when reading a book...
I always find it funny when there's a popular book turned into the movie and all the fanboys come out if there's the slightest deviation and decry the movie becuase it's either; a) not what they had in mind for the movie (go make your own then) or; b) not what the fans of the book...
I think people are missing the big picture here... This is the third film with Ben Affleck to be given the Criterion treatment! Not that I hate the guy - he just strikes me as the least Criterion-like actor out there :)
