This is a good topic, since one of the issues brought up in the AVS Forums is in regards to the Sammy DLP's poor DVD progressive component output playback. Is the playback of DVD's interlace ouptut through the components to the Sammy that much better?

He said in the next few weeks. I didn't actually ask about any other specs than the upconversion/downconversion issue. I guess that was all that really mattered to me at that point.

I talked to sony reps since I have been researching this extensively also and found that the 510 upconverts 720p signals to 1080i. The 500 downconverts this 720p to 480p. This is was important enough for me to wait on purchasing one.

Thanks for the replies. Most of the issues were having to do with the geometry - and most of this research was done in the avs forums. Otherwise, I 've heard good things about the set.

Well after some research on the AVS forums, I am starting to come to teh conclusion that the new kp46wt510 might be the set to buy. There just seems to be a lot of issues with the Sony 34inch WS cRT's. The kp46 on the other hand has gotten very good reviews, with not much in the way of problems...
