You really think felt would make THAT big of a difference? It's seriously ZERO soundstage. I am going to the fabric store in a few days and I'll pick some up to try it, just in case.
Sorry, I didn't make it clear. That was the most recent setup I tried, which didn't work. Normally the speakers are spaced farther apart - close to the distance between me and them. The seating position is about ten to eleven feet back, depending on where I put the speakers. They're aimed...
Yes, I did about forty minutes ago. They got slightly brighter but the problem remained. I just spent about twenty minutes objectively listening to the speakers, with my ears directly on axis from the tweeters, with the speakers at an approximate 25 degree angle from parallel. There is...
I'm still waiting on my EOS-350d to arrive so here are some absolutely terrible camera phone pictures of their current locations. Moving them around doesn't seem to change too much. Calibrated? I what? I've never done any EQing. The speakers not being designed well enough to properly image...
I've had this setup in my living room for quite a while now and no matter WHAT I do I cannot get a clear "picture" of the music I'm listening to. I can still tell where each speaker is coming from and they basically sound somewhat out of phase. I have double checked the polarity coming from my...
I don't mean to hijack your thread but if you're interested in getting rid of that Yamaha for a good price, let me know :] I don't know enough about home theater to give you any useful insight whatsoever on your purchase. Adam
If the projector is used as more than just a movie player.. i.e. if you're browsing the web, 480p is very difficult to do that in. Mine's used for movies during the week and as a music interface/web browser on weekends so this increases its versatility a little.. for people who can't afford...
So I could just be slow in the head, but it took a bit of effort to get my HTPC to output 720p over DVI. I'm hoping to clear any confusion there might be about whether or not it's possible (it most definitely is). Sorry about the image width. Prerequisites: 1. NVIDIA or ATI card with DVI out...
I posted in my other thread a solution I found, but this will only apply if you have an NVIDIA card.. if you select "use DVI out as HDTV" it lets you pick 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i, etc. and the PJ does the scaling.
That's good advice.. I wonder how I could make it just output raw PCM. Here's what my control panel looks like: It's a Chaintech AV-710 which is the VIA Envy24 chipset, 7.1.
It would defeat the purpose of having a PC to control everything, plus we use the HTPC/PJ combo a lot during parties for music/music videos. Also, I don't want to run 33 feet of component, and then climb up to the ceiling to switch input sources every time (we lost the remote). It's nice to have...
OK here I am, bringing back threads from the dead. A lot has happened since I ceiling mounted the projector. I ran the Infocus VGA to M1 connector for a while at a resolution of 1280x720, and the projector said "720p". All was good, except for little VGA artifacts. I purchased the Infocus 10m...
I'm having the same problem with my 4805. I switched from VGA to DVI and now I can't pick "1280x720" anymore without it scaling and trying to squish it into 1024x768, since that is this projector's "max resolution". Screw that, if it's gonna scale I at least want to scale correctly!
1. Must've missed that forum entirely. I blame it on being awake for too long! 3. I'll be sure to check out (and probably purchase) that M1-DVI cable from InFocus then, sounds exactly like what I need. 4. Yeah I meant digital coax.. see reasoning in 1. :P Does anybody know of a sound card...
Hey guys, This is probably only my third or fourth post on this forum but a lot has happened. My current setup is this: a ceiling mounted Infocus ScreenPlay 4805 in an approximately 18' long by 16' wide living room, which opens up into the rest of my house (missing the left wall). The acoustics...
Well, I still don't know where it goes but I think I know what it does. I finally got my multimeter (I bought it off eBay for $7.. gotta love eBay) and two of the four pins test at 17 VDC. I'm pretty sure it's used to power the front LCD and operate the buttons. I think the other two pins are...
I've heard some older BIC America speakers and they sounded really good, very balanced. I'll be using them for music (parties) and movies. I'm the only one that touches my setup at parties so they won't get blown. As for price range, I'm looking at around $350 max shipped. I've heard some...
I'm in the market for new floorstanding front speakers and wanted to hear your opinions. I usually don't post this vs. that threads, but I have no way of hearing the DV-84s before buying, and have heard they're pretty good. How do they compare to similarly priced speakers, and how do they...
Hello. My Aiwa AV-D57 no longer powers on. It doesn't smoke or show any signs of a short.. but nothing happens. I found that this wire is unplugged, and I don't know what it is. *PIC* Can anyone tell me where it goes? I've looked high and low through the receiver's circuit boards and can't...
Hello, I am a new member to this forum, and am getting into home audio. I am familiar with many of the ideas and concepts behind DIY audio since I have been into mobile audio for a few years. Now, on to the question. :) I have an Adire Audio Tempest and an Adire Audio AVA250 amplifier on order...
