    Terminator 1 & 2

That's what I meant on both posts ;) Dave, I always hold you opinion very high and in this case I'd like to know if you have the European disc for comparison, as it's much better compressed and avoids many of the problems found on previous the US release.

    Terminator 1 & 2

Personaly, I'd never go to Peter M Bracke for a take on any disc as I can't recall the last time I saw an accurate review from him. But that's just my opinion.

    Terminator 1 & 2

OK, I've seen the US Skynet Edition and all I have to say is: just what happened here? It's insanely DNRed, clearly even worse than the previous Lionsgate Edition and it's a long shot form the European/Japanese versions. It's terrible like some of the new Star Trek editions. Van Ling, can you...

    Grindhouse DVD's

Well, Weinstein is more like a no show for over 6 months now. The talks are they are going BD as well. Anyway, the company that distributes Planet Terror here in Brazil is a BD exclusive. So, eventually we'll be getting a BD version. In other territories, it's distributed by Buena Vista...

What a waste Death Proof was. Planet Terror on the other hand absolutely rocked, can barely wait for the BD.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Halloween -- in BD

I'm 100% with David Ruiz and Jeff Adkins regarding original soundtracks. Why is it so hard for studios to include the original (mono or stereo) tracks for older films in lossless fashion. It should be nothing considering Blu-ray disc space and bandwith. I can't understand their...

    Blu-ray Review HTF Blu-ray Review: Halloween (1978)

I'm 100% here with Vincent P and Don May. And I believe the original tracks (stereo or mono) should always be presented on HD discs in lossless fashion alongside whatever remix studios wanna throw in there to please the crowds. As it's been said, I'm all for technology, but it has nothing...

HTF HD DVD Review: Out For Justice

Very nice reveiew, the most well worded review for the film itselft I're read so far. Too bad Warner keeps leaving lossless audio behind on catalog titles, and the week video transfer

info about reissue of THE FIFTH ELEMENT (PCM16bit+DolbyTrueHD 20or24bit)

This is indeed great news about 5th Element. And not to hijack this thread, but another very important issue has come up for us movies aficcionados: the inclusion of the theatrical cut via seamless branching whenever extended or alternate cuts are being presented on Sony BDs. Please check out...

Call to Warner Brothers: Give us Dolby TrueHD on Blu-ray

I'm voting with my wallet too. I haven't bought a single titles without lossless audio, no matter how much I want the movie (ohhh that Mission Impossible box set got me scratching myself, but I refused to purchase it)

That's right Grant. Coincidence or not, I used this very example in the discussion with paidgeek. Let's until he gets back with his comments.

Sony to start using Dolby True HD on Blu-ray...

Ohh.. I sure remember that one. I'm in for the next ;) BTW, David. Have you been checking the insider thread. I asked them about original audio in lossless fashion for catalog titles. Paidgeek seems to agree. It will be really nice to go back to mono and stereo tracks in LPCM or lossless...

Sony to start using Dolby True HD on Blu-ray...

The Dialog Enhancement has been discussed to lenghts at AVS and has nothing to do with the dial norm defaut of the encoder. It actually 'degrades' the sound even further. I'm sorry again, but do you have actual scientific data that proves the lossless codecs are really lossless? I'm not...

Sony to start using Dolby True HD on Blu-ray...

Thanks guys, I really appreciate you taking the time to cast your vote there and stop this dial norm insanity ; ) Dave, that's exactly what David Boulet, Dan Hitchman and myself have been debating over at AVS with paidgeek (the Sony insider), along with the use of 48/24 sampling rate for...

Sony to start using Dolby True HD on Blu-ray...

***ATTENTION PLEASE*** For those of us concerned with the use of Dialog Normalization, I urge you to please take a minute of your time to post or vote on the following poll over at AVS. It's a valid survey (sort of an official one) since it was suggested by paidgeek himself, a Sony Pictures...

Sony to start using Dolby True HD on Blu-ray...

Ben, they are using different sampling rates Since they are going the lossless compressed way, I wish they chose the FOX way, DTS-HD MA @ full 48/24. I really don't like the idea of dial norm and other 'features' on the Dolby encoder. Furthermore DTS-HD MA @ full 48/24 takes less space...

Mike, I don't know what his source is, but you can find more info here: http://debrief.commanderbond.net/ind...howtopic=39909 I'm really worried about the BD version, which is the one I care about, will we have to wait for the Korean version as well? That one doesn't seem to be too near on...

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: The Descent

Michael, The Descent's LPCM track has 6.1 discrete channels, tough it's enconded as a 7.1 track, the duplicate surround back is necessary to work properly in case you have 2 surround back speakers (using analog outs, in case HDMI is used it dependes on the receiver). Crank (also a...

OFFICIAL HTF REVIEW: PEARL HARBOR (Blu-Ray)

You're welcome, that's nice. To get some of the most updated information, we already have to go through the craziness that's AVS, it would be shameful to get that same attitude here. That's one of the things I love about HTF, it's a respectful place and I'm sure Ronald and the moderators pride that.

Going Blu-Ray and need your help deciding which movies to watch

Kingdom of Heaven: DC Enemy of the State X-Men: The Last Stand Black Hawk Down Tears of the Sun You gotta love those uncompressed/lossless tracks (48/24 to boost on the first 3). Those are reference in my book, the others don't look or sound so well, even though they are all great...

It's mostly you! Thank you for the great thoughtfull opinion, since you don't even own a BD player. For one, I'm totaly exited by all the Bruckheimer films that are coming to BD, can't wait for the next. Pearl Harbor rocks in my book. Bruckheimer movies done right, would alone make me jump...

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Rising Sun

Thank you Michael, great review!!! I was on the fence with this one. I surely didn't expect it to be a shinny transfer, as it would not correspond to the original theatrical presentation. It was indeed, very film like, as they say. I only cared about a clean print and no major compressions...

Buena Vista Goes All BD-50 for January Blu-ray Slate

Yes they have David! ;) Universal's HD-DVDs of End Of Days and Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas both have 48/16 (far from the ideal IMO) Dolby TrueHD tracks. So, this could further reinforce the point that they couldn't fit it on Kong.
