That was probably my 20-39 pci you got :) I have an open 17x15 room that bottomed a 20-39pci at 10 below ref on certain DVds. Got the 20-39pc+ like they recommended and WAHLAH! No clack. Much mow bettah... YMMV of course. Larry Sorry for the edit.. :)
If the Denon detects "analog" then there must be an analog connection as well...either disconnect the RCA's or hit the auto mode switch until it reads "digital". Sumpin's hokey.
The back is not actually closed off, it's quite open...it has one of those breathable black cloth velcroed on type covers, that doesn't fit very well due to all the cables coming out of the back. I might still invest in a fan just to be safe... Thanks, Larry
Can these things handle being in an enclosed cabinet? I've got about 3" clearance above and maybe 1.5" on the sides w/ a cloth back. It definitely gets warm in there. I'm thinking of putting the receiver on top, though it looks much cleaner inside. Any thoughts? Thanks, Larry
I'm having a hard time calibrating my sub to avia. When trying to set at 3db hot, it fluctuates quite a bit... starts off steady then starts bouncing. Slow or fast mode. SOO...I'm curious. Using avia to calibrate at 85db and sub 3db hot and receiver at reference, the Godzilla intro gives me 100...
Thank you all VERY much! I'm good to go... (I think :D ). It sounds great to MY ears the way it is... I just wanted to know what was going on "behind the scenes" out of curiosity. Perhaps when/if my ears become more sophisticated, I'll look into that ICBM missle launcher thing... until then...
Wow...this is confusing...please bear with me here. How did you figure the speaker size applies only to DD/DTS? Is that for DD/DTS that comes out of the analog jacks only. Digital out isn't affected by CP72 speaker size right? So...if speaker size doesn't apply to DVD-A and I have my Denon...
I've read a few articles here about bass management probs and DVD-A w/ the Panny CP72. Can somebody explain this to me? I know it has a setting for large and small speaker settings. Set to small, signals below 100hz go to the sub. Is there something else with DVD-A that is a problem? Thanks...
I'd like to know if anybody has a 7.1 set up with the seating position up against the back wall. I have Klipsch RS3's as surrounds on the side walls facing each other about 3' above ear level. I was thinking of a more directional RB3 at ceiling level for the rears and either angled down or...
Hey guys, Sorry for the ambiguity... Yeah, I reset sub gain to acheive 78db after each receiver adjustment. You are correct Ed, when you suspected I was checking my BM (so to speak ;) ). There is a close opening to the sub. It stays very close to 1/3 gain whatever I do.. When using AVIA...
Hi Tom, The sub is about 12' from me at right front corner..there is a hall opening close to the corner on the right wall...Speakers set at LF -3 C -3 RF -3 RS -1.5 LS -1.5 using internal tones on 3803. With AVIA it was fronts at 0db (forgot the surround setting) NOt sure about...
104 db about when I hear it clack...17x15 semi open room... That is calibrated to internal tones, all speaks set to 75db except sub..So I'm set to 12db BELOW this 75db ref Thanks, Larry
Well it was during the opening of ATOC...I originally thought it wasn't...Am I expecting too much from this sub? Is a PC-Plus less likely to bottom at this level (preferrably even louder, like -5)I haven't tried other movies yet. Will the LFE level setting help under surround parameters on a...
I've heard mention on this board of subs "bottoming out". I have a SVS 20-39pci. What are signs it's being pushed too hard? Does the speaker actually extend to the point of hitting the base plate, or does it refer to just driving it to beyond maximum extension. Is it audible? I've been messing...
