I got the impression from some of God's comments that he talks to a number of mortals from time to time. Also, in the pilot, God reveals Joan prayed for her brother to survive. Said she would behave, do well in school, etc. I figured she got God's attention.
I just got my Comcast HDTV STB last Friday in the Richmond, Va area. I get ESPNHD, INHD1, INHD2, HBOHD, SHOHD, ABCHD, & NBCHD. No Fox, CBS or PBS at this time. Since I already had Comcast Digital Cable, there was no monthly or installation charge. Extra STB are $5 per month each...
If you will settle for a 5 channel amp, you might consider a Marantz MM9000 at http://www.ac4l.com 5x150w for $700 delivered. Marantz has discontinued the MM9000 - these are new amps with a 3 year warrenty. I bought one to go with my Yamaha RX-V630 driving various Paradigm speakers. I just got...
Having read these boards for a while, the general consensus is buying used or refurbished receivers/amps is pretty safe. However, folks are really talking about used higher end stuff. I suspect it is a little more risky for lower end stuff. Personnaly, in your situation, I would go for a...
Two Outlaw M-200 (200w@8ohm) monoblocks go for $575. Outlaw even has a free shipping promotional offer. Any comments on 2 M-200 versus a comparable Parasound or Rotel, which cost considerably more. For example, a HCA-1500A retails for $995. I would drive Paradigm Monitor 7's for music.
You can also start watching the "Hardware for Sale" forum here and www.audiogon.com for used equipment. Used is definately a good way to get the best possible equipment for the money invested.
Thanks for the response. I passed on the deal because I wasn't confident about the quality of the PA-2000. I was hoping for some opinions from this post, but unfortunately didn't get any before the deal expired. I must say I am surprised - I thought I would get some pro parasound posts. :D
I currently have a Yamaha RX-V630 and Paradigm Monitor 7's for mains. I was thinking abour upgrading with a 2 channel amp for music. Have been thinking about a Parasound HCA-750a or HCA-1000a. Saw the deal at Onecall for a HK PA-2000 for $210. How would the PA-2000 compare to a HCA-750a in my...
I have the following setup. Fronts - Monitor 7 Surround - Esprit Center - CC-170 Sub - PDR-10 Receiver Yamaha RX-V630 DVD - Panasonic RP-62 I probably listen to music 40% and TV 60%. I have been thinking about further upgrades, but do not know where to go from here. Will adding a...
There are windows on the left side of the room my HT is in and once every few months a military helicopter will fly near our house. My son and I were watching the Seth episode of Stargate SG-1 season 3 on DVD. In the episode, there is a military helicopter that flys by off screen from left to...
I have a RP-62. When playing a CD I burned with MP3s, some play fine and some "skip" or "hiccup". The MP3's play fine on other MP3 players (Computer, SonicBlue). I called Panasonic support and they said they have never heard of this problem and suggested taking it to a local authorized repair...
I have Comcast Digital and it has happened from time to time since I got digital. It is not always on pay channels and it also occurred on my direct view TV. I have also had the STB lock up and had to unplug it to get it to work. I assume it is the Comcast feed or the STB.
They are all fine brands. I have Paradigm fronts, center, surrounds and sub and really like them. IMHO, the best advice given on this forum to questions like this is choose whatever sounds best to you. Enjoy! Edited at 10:56: If you can spend a little more, you can purchase Paradigm...
My son got $40 tickets. He was lucky and got the best $40 seats you could get - directly across from the stage on the top deck. He thoroughly enjoyed the concert - which lasted 3 hours. Unfortunately, he could not buy a souvenir, since even hats were something like $40. I must say I have mixed...
Fronts - Monitor 7 Surround - Esprit Center - CC-170 Sub - PDR-10 Receiver Yamaha RX-V630 Reasons for my choices: $$$$ Auditioned the Yamaha/Paradigms at a local A/V store and like the sound Prefer floor standing to bookshelf or wall mounted
Acoustic Research seems less expensive that Monster. I saw GE component cables in a Target the other day. Have no idea what the quality is like. Did you look in the tweaking, connections and accessories forum? I am sure this topic has been discussed there...
I purchased a Yamaha RX-V630. After determining what receivers and speakers I might be interested in, I looked for local A/V stores (not Circuit City or Best Buy) I could audition at. I only found one store I liked and the only equipment they sold that were on my short list were Yamaha and...
Don't worry, many of us are very confused when we start off. It has taken me a couple of months to full appreciate my equipment and what the myriad of settings really do. :b I think you will get more responses if you state the models of the equipment you are asking questions about. In this...
Try looking at this link. There is a comprehensive explanation of DVD player technologies and benchmarks used to evaluate them. There are many more benchmarks than listed on the first page, so click on the "Progressive Scan Shootouts - December, 2000 - January, 2003" link and look for...
Can you audition any of your choices at a local A/V store? As has been pointed out many times on these forums, the best choice is the one that sounds best to you.
