    Question about Denon recievers

Drew, Yes, Denon 1082 or 2803 can be used as a pre-amp As for the difference between the 1082 and 2803, the 1082 is more powerful but has less digital sound input ports and yes, 1082 is Denon 3802 re-badged. Also, 1082 is about $100 cheaper than 2083 ($799) There are no difference in sound...

is this a good dvd/cd player?

If I understand correctly, you want to listen a CD while you are watching DVD image on TV using the same player? If that is the case, then it might not be possible for 2 reasons: 1. Your DVD/CD player will not be able to play 2 discs at once. (Only one disc at a time) 2. Unless you have...

What is the difference between standard screen format DVD and Wide screen format DVD on a Widescreen TV? I thought they would look the same on WS TV since the TV is already in widescreen format, is that right?? or would the standard screen DVD looked stretch out on the widescreen TV (like all TV...

I'm really confused as to hooking up a dvd player

Mike, You are correct with using a digital coax to transfer the 5.1 sound while listening to a dvd (using video 1 digital in) but instead use a video cable to go from the video out on the dvd to video1 in on the receiver. you should run it directly to the TV (since your TV doesn't have...

    Speaker wire

I believe smaller (number)on the gage the better conductivity, therefore better sound. but if you are not running over a long distance 12 would be best but 14 or 16 gage would be fine.

    Xpost: Faroudja's DCDi de-interlacer?

Brae, Thank you for the advise but how do I find a DVD Player with DCDi if the maker does not advertise it? I went back to the store today and the salesman kept on insisting that Denon DVD900 is better than Toshiba SD4800 because of the better processing chip should I believe him?? Thanks...

    Xpost: Faroudja's DCDi de-interlacer?

What is Faroudja's DCDi de-interlacer? I have have it on my new Denon DVD900, is it worth the extra $$? How does Denon DVD900 compare with Toshiba's SD4800? I am considering an exchange for the Toshiba since it's $110 cheaper. Is Denon DVD900 worth the money? Thanks

Same brand of AV receiver, DVD player, CD

Any reason I should stay with the same brand of AV receiver, DVD player, and CD player when building my Home theater system? Pros and Cons? I have Denon AVR-3802 and just purchased Denon's DVD-900 but I think Denon's DVD player is high priced and I can probably get something better for that...

    Optical audio cable vs. Coaxial?

I have the option of using either one on my DVD player (Denon DVD 900) but don't know which one is actually better. Most people prefer Optical and some love coaxial, does anyone know the pro and con of these connections? TIA
