B&W speakers need EQ for correction

Wayne, This maybe true - Behringer FBQ1502 may not be a "state of the art". Here is my point, though. I wanted to adjust frequencies myself and see whether it helped my problem (too much midrange). I started with the entry level model to verify the concept. Well, here is what I have to say...

B&W speakers need EQ for correction

Wayne, I read your previous posts and glad you replied. Since my receiver has only pre-outputs and no main ins, and I care mostly about stereo reproduction, I would not want to upgrade a receiver. Nak AV-10 is quite "musical" and I'm happy with it. Placement is not an issue, so it's just me and...

B&W speakers need EQ for correction

In one of the previous threads I stated my B&W DM 602 speakers sounded too loud at a higher than usual volume, and I was not sure whether it was speakers or Nakamichi AV-10 receiver. Well, I went to the audio store and listened to Magnepan MG12 - did not like them. Great speakers, just prefer...

    Interesting observation

Let me understand it. Receiver's crossover distributes everything above 80Hz to the mains and LFE signal (160Hz and below) to the sub. Therefore, the interval between 80 and 150Hz is being reproduced by both mains and sub. It felt like the sound was too reach or perhaps boomy in the lower rantge...

    Interesting observation

While tuning my sub/speakers setup, I heard a gap between base and mid-range. Adire Rava sub was crossed at 80 Hz to match my Nakamichi AV-10 receiver crossover point while listening to stereo. B&W 602 S3 speakers were set to small. The gap disappeared and base "connected" to the rest of the...

The louder it gets, the worse it sounds

At the time I suspect it is speakers. I always felt room 20x15 was just too big for B&W 602 S3, and therefore will try to audition Magnepan MG12.

Wow. I did not see this coming. Nakamichi?

The louder it gets, the worse it sounds

I recall now that I did enjoy listening to DVD material at a high SPL. I'm going to rent a "loud" movie today and compare it with CD. I'll post my findings tomorrow.

The louder it gets, the worse it sounds

;) Oh, no. This is not an option, and it's me, not my wife, who does not let more furniture in the room.:D 5.1 works well for me (I have Sonance in-ceilings)- I just don't have much time for movies, but I was thinking of moving B@W into the bedroom since they do sound nice especially at the mild...

The louder it gets, the worse it sounds

I am running bass through the sub using "small" speaker mode and crossover around 80 Hz or so. I also turned off "loudness" when listening at high volume since it's only usefull to bring up vocals a bit at a lower volume. Yet detail is not there at higher output, and I'm starting to have a...

The louder it gets, the worse it sounds

And that's what I was talking about - how do I know if I'm running out of power or this is speakers? Speakers start sounding loud and base, mid, higher range seem to merge, so again I can't reaaly tell which part of setup degrades.

The louder it gets, the worse it sounds

Well, perhaps it's time to change the speakers since I have a bigger room now. Any recommendations on good towers below 1K? I prefer tight bass (although I can always switch it to sub only), and crisp highs. Last seems to be rare for towers in my opinion.

The louder it gets, the worse it sounds

Hi fellows, Here's what's been bothering me for quite a while. I'm running following setup: Nakamichi AV-10 receiver with a pair of B&W bookshelves (602 S3), can't remember what SS rears (in-ceiling), Adire Rava sub, and NAD DVD player. It all sounds very, very decent, including surround...

Will I blow my receiver if two pairs of speakers are connected to A and B inputs?

Thanks, Chris. Just a few things to add: Impedance of the speakers: 6ohms nominal, 4ohms minimum Nak: Continuous Power Output Stereo: 120W x 2 (8 ohms, two channels driven, 20 - 20,000 Hz, 0.1% THD) Surround: 100W x 5 (8 ohms, five channels driven, 20 - 20,000 Hz, 0.1% THD). And you...

Will I blow my receiver if two pairs of speakers are connected to A and B inputs?

My Nakamichi AV-10 has A and B front channels and I want to listen to my fronts and in-ceilings at the same time. One of the tech guys said I'd blow the receiver this way because I run two pairs in parallell so the receiver has to supply two times more power for the front. Now what I don't...

Earth to Adire Audio -- anyone out there? Anyone listening?

I ordered mine two days ago and already have a tracking number - shipped yesterday. No bad, not bad. Can't wait to listen to it. Last time I was really disappointed getting a Sunfire Sr.Junior - did not feel anything, although musically it was not bad. I guess 20x15 room needs a bigger beast...
