The Survivor 9: Vanuatu Discussion Thread

This week's immunity challenge did not seem to favor a woman winning over a man, in fact, I think it favored Chris as he was the only male there. With 1 man and 6 women screaming at the top of their lungs, it would be easier to distinguish the man's voice over the women's. Also, they totally...

Ah, I was unaware that they stacked the votes. I always had a suspicion though. Thanks for clearing that up.

That's not true. Jeff stops reading the votes once it's mathematically impossible for the next votes to count. Last week there were 9 total votes. That means that the first person to get 5 votes is the one voted off. In this case it was Sarge who got the 5 votes needed to boot him so Jeff...

The Survivor 9: Vanuatu Discussion Thread

The guys this season are idiots and their strategy of getting rid of all the strong young guys is dumb. Right now they are diminsihing the power in their tribe and losing the ability to compete at a highter power level for immunity. Therfore, they are going to go to tribal council more often and...

The Survivor 9: Vanuatu Discussion Thread

I really hope that the "Twists" in last night's episode weren't really the biggest of the season, or we are in for a very boring season here. So far, Vanuatu has got to be the least interesting Survivor to record. Of course that can change, because it's still early, but usually after the...

Rory definitely has to go, and soon. I am pretty sure the next time the guys lose, he'll be the one to get the boot. The older guys have a 5 to 3 advantage right now, so it won't hurt them to bring it down to 4 to 3.

    The Existence of hometheaterforum.com...

THis isn't a pro-SVS forum. It isn't a pro-anything forum. Nobody forces us to say that we like SVS subs, or that they are great. We go from experience. And quite frnakly, you'd be hard pressed to find a better sub for the money. Sure, there are better subs than the SVS subs, and many of...

    Painted wall as screen?

Will a painted wall do a decent job as a temporary screen for a projector? I have a projector but no screen, and I just bought a house with a room that I am going to dedicate to HT, but I don't have a screen, nor the money to buy one. Will a white painted all work? If so, should it be glossy...

Add one more member to the elite group of Equilibrium fans. I hadn't heard a thing about this movie until my brother had a friend over my house to watch a few movies. We started talking about my DVD collection and he asked me if I ever saw Equilibrium. I was like "No, never even heard of it...

Did I damage anything in my receiver?

Hey Al, Always good to see another person in my area interested in home theater. I'll keep your name in mind in case anything comes up.

Did I damage anything in my receiver?

Thanks for the quick reply. Good thing the receiver turned off I guess. I heard no huge distortion or pops in the speakers, and like I said, they sound fine now. They don't have fuses (JBL NSP1), so I guess I'll just be more careful in the future. Thanks for reassuring that everything is OK.

Did I damage anything in my receiver?

Yesterday I was watching a video tape of a program I had recorded earlier and I noticed that my right speaker was putting out a very distorted sound. I switched to TV and it didn't sound distorted in any way, so I thought that maybe one of the wires from the RCA Y adapter/splitter I have...

Question about the Dragonheart DVD series.

I picked up a copy of Dragonheart on Ebay a few months ago because I couldn't find it anywhere else. You might want to check there.

A thermometer and a scale will tell you which is the best receiver.

I tried the licking thing, but found many models at different price points to taste similar. One sure fire way to tell which is built the best, is to remove it from the shelf, get to the middle of the aisle and swing that bad boy in circles by the power cord. When the cord detaches and the...

    Ebay

I purchased from Harmon Audio on Ebay, and couldn't be happier. I got my JBL NSP1 package through them for 202.50 brand new. You shouldn't worry at all when dealing with Harmon, they're a reputable company.

Best three Worst three Need three

Interestingly enough, all 3 of the movies you picked as my worst were given to me. I agree with the transporter, it wasn't that great. Once upon a timein Mexico, while not as good as Desperado, is still a kick ass DVD. The extras on that one are awesome, and they make you appreciate the movie...

    Cleaning DVDs.

I had always heard that also, but a few weeks ago I rented a movie from Blockbuster, and there was an insert that had the following info (not exactly worded this way): If you are having problems playing this disc, wipe the surface with a clean cloth. If you still have problems, spray Windex...

Movies that made you want to do the same?

After watching Office Space, I had an urge to not go to work one day, go fishing instead, and then bring the fish back to my cubicle at work and gut it. Oh man that would be awesome. I did skip work to go fishing one day, but I couldn't bring myself to bring my catch to work :frowning:

How many snappers have you converted to keepcases?

I've converted about 6 so far, but it hasn't cost me a dime. Some of you may not like to do it this way, but for those of you who can't find cover art to download, here's a solution. I remove the artwork from the plastic on the original snapper case, trim it down to a size that will fit in a...

    Widescreen worth it??

Another thing to consider when upgrading to a 16:9 from 4:3 is the size of the image you'll get for each type of programming. It would hardly be worth upgrading to the 32" 16:9 from the 34" 4:3 in my opinion, especially if the 4:3 does the anamorphic squeeze, and here's the numbers to back it...

    Anyone using JBL N-Center II?

I also have an N-center with N24's all around. I've never had a problem with shielding or with the cabinets vibrating, and I play my movies pretty damned loud. Sometimes this speaker amazes me with the vocals on movies. This is my first HT setup and I don't plan on upgrading my speakers for at...

Can i use a regular RCA cable for Digital Coaxial audio connection?

Technically you could use a standard RCA cable, but you really shouldn't. You'll get sound, but it may not be that great. A standard RCA cable has an impedance of around 50 Ohms. Digital Coaxial cable are rated at least 75 Ohms. It is suggested that you use cable of at least 75 Ohms for a...
