i see what you are saying but wouldn't you think the panorama mode would stretch the 1.85:1 image coming in from the DVD as it would with a 4:3 picture from cable? i took some shots, they are not the best but it shows you. My TV Screen Shots

ya i have the DVD player set to 16:9 thats why i am kinda confused on what i should set the TV at. I will go check out the FAQ thing and i will also take a couple screen shots of my TV to show you want i mean. Thankz EDIT: the DVD i have are mostly 2.35:1 and a couple that are 1.85:1

Thankz man, ya i called my cable company(Time warner) and they said that i would get a HD reciever if i get digital. Then i asked him if the local channels by me are in HD and he said no so i asked when they would be and he said he had no clue. Could this guy just know nothin? I will look at...

i think i am going to stay with my Time Warner cable because i have been looking at the threads saying i can get a HD reciver for free from them. The time warner bakersfield site must be down because it won't let me connect, it is driving me crazy :angry:

ok so could you please list everything i would need to get HD on my TV right now if i went with Direct TV and how much that items might cost. I only have the HDTV right now. I want to make sure i get this all right before i start spending a lot of money. Thankz

so how much do those go for? I am thinkin about getting the Direct TV package where i get two recievers and the satilite for free. Will those recievers work? I think i have to get the 18x24" dish to get HD signal right?

ok for the HDTV satilite tuner, does that have to have a built in HDTV reciever? If so, then i am screwed,lol. I don't have the money for that because i see them going for $499 min. Do you guys know of any that are cheaper then that?
