Wow! Outlaw 950, maggies all around, and a cinenova 5 channel. All you need now is dual cs-ultras and a samson amp and we'd have the exact same gear setup! :D Hell, pick up a 36" sony wega and a panasonic dvd player and I'll just link your home theater pics in my sig. ;)
Oops, forgot to mention Magnepan dealers. Your best bet is Audio Consultants. They've got 4 locations in IL. IL CHICAGO AUDIO CONSULTANTS IL EVANSTON AUDIO CONSULTANTS IL HINSDALE AUDIO CONSULTANTS IL LIBERTYVILLE AUDIO CONSULTANTS They also carry a pretty extensive list of other...
Mike, I actually had a very similar experience. We started out looking at B&W and Martin Logan speakers and ended up with Magnepans. For subs I use 2 SVS CS-Ultras. They seem to do the trick for me. :) Btw, are you related to Bob by chance?
Alan, I have the same all maggie speaker setup except with 2 SVS-Ultras for subs. It does music/HT like I've always wanted. Good luck with the setup, I'm sure it's going to sound awesome. Make sure to update your pics link when you've got it all setup. :)
Has anyone used these products? I saw this on the x10 website: http://www.x10.com/products/x10_vk57a.htm Basically lets you play the mp3s on your computer on your stereo system. I'm wondering how good the sound quality is and if there any better alternatives to the x10 solution...
Anybody have any experience with the X1/X3 and how they compare with other speakers like VMPS, Magnepan, etc? Some reviews I've come across: http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volum...rs-8-2001.html http://www.hometheatersound.com/equi...er_radia_x.htm From this forum...
Actually I found the Klipsch ksw-12 to be boomy and had poor extension. Aftering firing up my svs ultra, I began to wonder how I ever thought the ksw-12 sounded good.
Here's the link to the thread: http://db.audioasylum.com/cgi/m.pl?f...c3&r=&session= Here's the link to the picture of the CC3: http://www.enjoythemusic.com/theexpo2003/sunday/ It's about halfway down.
Russ, Please do post your opinions. Would love to see how the rockets compare. Just curious what speakers you've listened to within the rocket's range? -Lon
Hi Mike, I listened to a pair of b&w 805's and they just didn't seem to have the "presence" I was looking for. Another possibility I had considered was the norh, but it seems they would be pretty hard to find someone to demo them. Not likely on the amp borrowing. I don't have the...
Hi Mike, I suppose I'm a little prejudice against the bookshelf speakers now. I have yet to hear one that I really liked. Thoough I wonder if the LRC would work with the Maggie 1.6... Hi Jack, Sounds like we are in a pretty similar boat. I listened to the Maggies in an HT environemt...
Hi John, Good call on the ribbons. I looked at the VMPS site and it left me a bit confused on what their product line is and where to buy. Any particular VMPS site/dealer I should try? *edit* Oops, I found the "continue" button at the bottom of their price lists page. All is clear now...
Hi Mike, Thanks for the info. Which specific Thetas and Krells are you using? Right now I'm about 50/50 on HT vs music. So far I've auditioned Klipsch, B&W(nautilus 802, 804, 805), Thiel, Sonus Faber and Martin Logan. Out of those the high end Martin Logan and the 802 were amazing, but...
Hi guys, been lurking around here for about 2 years now and am finally taking the plunge to upgrade my existing system. I'm replacing everything except for the Dual SVS-Ultras. My home theater room is in the basement and measures 17 x 11.5 x 7. I'm currently considering going with the...
