The owner's manual for the Venturer SHD7000 is finally up: Link So we can compare it with the existing Toshiba models. Which one should we compare it with, exactly? Let's proceed by elimination. The second-generation models had the drive on the left, and the third-gen on the right. The...
It's up, but on a message dated Monday October 29th, Davisdvd (Patrick Mirza) said goodbye. That's a real shame. Good dvd information sites are harder and harder to come by.
And A Clockwork Orange is 2-disc on HD DVD and 1-disc on Blu-ray. If you order from a site that calculates shipping on a disc basis (such as dvdpacific), then the HD DVD is a little more expensive.
If you look now at the thread, Patrick has edited his posts (4+ years after) so that no trace remains of how he pulled seniority to stonewall me - and not being man enough to admit that for once the veteran was wrong and the newbie was right.
Sorry to bump this thread from the dead, but http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/dvdcompare/shining.htm
The 1.33:1 edition has more picture on the top and bottom but is cropped on the sides!!
Universal rep: 'We admit we did put up a slide with some Spielberg titles inside of the HD DVD swoosh, with the HD DVD logo on the top left, the caption "HIGH DEFINITION" on the top right and the "THE LOOK AND SOUND OF PERFECT®" slogan' at the bottom, but that didn't mean we wanted to imply that...
Good commentary. Only a couple clues: - Don't look for metaphors - Notice how the position of Tomás kneeling by the tree of life is identical to another image of Future Tom kneeling by the spaceship tree.
"This site has exceeded the allotted bandwidth." Humph.
edit: over at chud someone found the MP3: http://www.darrenaronofsky.com/Media..commentary.mp3
But of course it's unavailable. If someone manages to get it, please upload it on rapidshare or something.
edit #2: well it is up again...
Different things. You're criticizing a passage where he was expressing his opinion. Whereas the section Cees criticized was simple fact reporting. So your post may be valid or not, but is irrelevant.
Oh come on. He's not retracted anything. First he merely relayed an LA Times story, then he followed up on it with his contacts and found out new information (namely, that the LA Times was reporting this offer to Warner as something current when it was not). And then published the information...
Most studios, whether they support Blu-ray, HD DVD or are neutral: (a) Put a list price on catalog titels of $10 less than new releases; (b) Include in the hidef disc most or all of the bonus content included in the SD DVD edition. Fox does nothing of the above. They set everything at...

I emailed the author of the article, and he replied that "800 titles seemed high to me too but that was the amount of releases spelled out on a monthly chart presented by Richard Doherty for the HD DVD Promotions Group at last week’s Media-Tech confab in Long Beach, Calif." The Media-Tech...
I'm ambivalent. On one hand, The difference in detail, sharpness and depth is so amazing that it is hard to go back. But on the other hand, I've decided that a good movie on SD DVD beats a bad movie on HD any time. Example: two of my latest rentals have been The Good Shepherd on HD (great...
