    $1500 for WS-55809 - Should I?

Hi everyone, A friend of a friend wants to sell his Mitsubishi WS-55809 for $1500. He's moving and needs to get rid of it. It looks to be in perfect condition. I currently don't have an HD capable TV and would like one for watching movies and playing games in progressive scan. What are your...

DVD Planet customer service recently going down hill?

It seems they have removed the "on hold" message from their phone system. There now appears to be no way to communicate with an actual human over there. The phone system is a mess. They also still have not responded to my email to them. I'm almost postive that when I return home tonight I...

DVD Planet customer service recently going down hill?

DVD Planet just invoiced and shipped me a repeat of an order I paid for and recieved from them 2 months ago! So now I have an unexpected $100 charge to my credit card, some duplicate DVDs in the mail to me, and then I suppose I'll have to pay to ship them back!

    Avia v.s. Video Essentials

If I don't have a 16:9 or HDTV but just purchased a Pioneer 811s reciever and JBL SCS150si 5.1 speaker setup would you recommend VE or Avia? I'm wondering if the audio calibration stuff alone would be worth the money. Or do I wait for the updates of these discs, supposedly coming soon? Thanks!

Give it up for Fritz Lang!

Everyone should also remember to pick up Criterion's edition of Godard's Contempt. Not only does it star Fritz Lang, but disc 2 has an incredible hour long interview with Lang by Godard. I really enjoyed it!

    (Following the) Rabbit-Proof Fence

Umm no I never said the fence was invented just for the film. In fact, I said the opposite. However there's a million ways to tell the story of the girls running away, the fence was CHOSEN for metaphorical reasons.

    (Following the) Rabbit-Proof Fence

Seth I think some of your problems with the film are actually meant to be there. The Rabbit Proof Fence is, you're right, not only near impossible to build but would do a dubious job at keeping rabbits from going from one side to the other. Just like the government policy of trying to remove...

what are the differences between Region 0 dvds and regular, US purchased dvds?

Hi Vincent. To begin with I'd check out the HTF Primer located here. You specifically want the section "What is Region encoding?"

*** Official "THE RECRUIT" Discussion Thread

I saw a preview screening last night and was pretty dissapointed. I agree with Aaron that there are a few too many plot twists (but I would probably be in here complaining that it was too predictable if there weren't). My major gripe with the movie is actually Pacino. It seemed like he was...

    Filmmakers/academics that don't embrace DVD?

Not to take us off topic, but which transfers are you talking about Zane? I have quite a few of his films on DVD and never found the transfers lacking. Extras, yes, but not transfers.
