ZARDOZ is not a movie to enjoy the first time you see it. The film is constructed as something of a puzzle and it is only in subsequent viewings where it all makes sense. It DOES tell a logical story that is easy to follow once you have seen it at least once.
Granted , most people don't...
He even revised the book the movie was based on. The later "Ninth Configuration" is a substantially rewritten version of the original "Twinkle, Twinkle Killer Kane".
Not really. Connery is Scottish, Brosnan is Irish, and Lazenby is Australian. Only Craig and Moore have been Brits.
I agree that Taylor would have made a fine Bond.
it should also be mentioned that the 2003 versions of the Indiana Jones films were "corrected". That is, they were tweaked somewhat to enhance the visual effects. I believe the Blu-ray reverted back to the original theatrical versions. Nothing major was changed, just matte lines erased, and...
But that assumes that the production actually knew it was going to spend $34 million. I don't think they did. They ended up spending much more than planned in Paris and Rio for reasons that had nothing to do with what showed up on the screen (overpaying, out and out extortion, etc). For my money...
I had toyed around with getting this title back when it was a Walmart exclusive, but talked myself out of it for various reasons. The comments in this thread have convinced be to get it.
I was astounded when I first saw this movie in widescreen on AMC years ago, for many of the reasons...
I just got my store pickup confirmation, so I guess they really have them. I got THE SPY WHO LOVED ME and ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE. Both were $9.95.
Went to Best Buy and nobody knew anything about exclusives.
I'm out. I will wait for Amazon to get them. I've waited a couple of years already for the ones I want, so what's the difference now.
I may give Target a shot, but unless I can order the discs from Best Buy's web site, I'm staying away.
I also am very familiar with the mono track, but found myself getting into the movie in a new way when I watched it with the 7.1 track. I still miss the things mentioned elsewhere in this thread, and am glad the mono track is on the Blu-ray, but I was fine with the new surround mix. And I...
As Superscope is a post-production process, wouldn't that mean that if INVASION was restored from the original camera negative it could be transferred opened up? I'm not saying that's what should be done, as it WAS released to theaters in the 2:1 ratio, but the original negative would have the...
I think that while the presentation is far from definitive, this is probably the best that AMBERSON's has looked on home video. It is certainly much better than the Criterion laserdisc and is definitely very watchable.
I will gladly buy AMBERSON's again when it is released on Blu-Ray.
Perhaps my age when first seeing MOONRAKER accounts for my fondness for it...a little. However, it must be said that for all of its excesses MOONRAKER is rarely boring, something that for me can't be said about A VIEW TO A KILL, LICENSE TO KILL or even YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE. I agree with whoever...
Personally, I thought the staircase conversation between Karras and Merrin was the only worthwhile addition to the extended cut. If less of the first doctor's visit had been included I would have been okay with that as well, but it goes on far too long. I found the superimpositions to be...
Just to confirm, the "Rings around the moon" line and the power station scene are NOT in the 98 version of the film. I never saw the 98 version in the theater, but the the line and scene are not on the LD, DVD or Blu-Ray versions of the film. They are only in the 77 version of the film.
I...
There weren't actually any deleted scenes on the LD. Some scenes were described using text, stills and script excerpts. I think the scenes described were the original opening (Francis stalking a runner--bits of this are seen in the theatrical trailer), a conversation with a woman on Lastday...
"I think this is very encouraging, if it's true. Personally, I do not have an interest in LOGAN'S RUN, but it may open the door for two similar films of the sci-fi '70s I want in this genre -- WESTWORLD and SOYLENT GREEN." For what it's worth, either HDNET MOVIES or MGMHD has shown WESTWORLD...
"Is the latest version (1997 was it?) missing anything from the original, other than the power plant scene, and Carl Weathers telling Roy about looters? Because it feels very close to the original to me." I agree. I think the 1997 cut is my preferred cut now. I never liked the SE Mother Ship...
Not in a particular order... 1) King Kong - I got the tin with MIGHTY JOE YOUNG and SON OF KONG 2) The Incredibles 3) Alfred Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection 4) Laura 5) Titanic: Collector's Edition 6) Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith 7) Point Blank 8) Frighteners: CE 9) The War of the...
