Well I tried switching out the cables with some others I have that are new. It didn't help, so I am almost positive now it is a glitch in the VCR. Oh well, not worth replacing a VCR at this point. I don't use it that much.

I don't know of any stand-alone DVD player that you can hook speakers to directly. I think what you are referring to is the analog multi-channel outputs. The signal from these must be amplified (powered) by a receiver to drive speakers. You can get a decent entry-level receiver for around $200...
Try epinions.com and dealtime.com. They are price search websites, so you can type in what you are looking for and the website will give you a bunch of stores online that sell that item.
I don't know why you would want to route component video thru the receiver anyway. Those cables are usually at least 30 bucks a pop. Go straight to the TV and save yourself from buying 2 cables. Receiver handles the audio. Let your TV handle the video. IMO ;)
OK. I just watched this last night for the first time. I understand that Bourne was an assassin working for the CIA. What I don't get is the comment about Bourne being a "30 million dollar weapon." Can someone explain this to me? Is he part robot? Does he have some kind of microprocessor...
