DLP vs D-ILA (for the infamous video game lag issues)

Hey gang, I've searched high and low for the answer to this question, but can't find the answer anywhere, even though I KNOW its been discussed on several occasions. So I apologize for bringing this up again. But I'm very interested in the JVC HD-61FN97 (61" ). My only concern is that I've...

Problems viewing cable through my Infocus projector

Yep, Cameron is most likely correct... That Blue screen is probably VCR-Generated and all you have to do is go into the VCR's menu and switch it to Cable instead of 'air'.

    Transparent Vertical Line Problem

Let me start off by saying that I use a Panny PT53wx53. Whenever I use an HD source, be it HD Cable or XBox360... I get a transparent vertical line that is either stationary (cable) or moves from left to right (xbox). I finally called Xbox tech support today, and they seem to think it's...

    Panasonic WIdescreen HDTV Convergence

Jordan, HTF user "JohnnyG"... he has a website that sells the panny 53" convergence grids, which are a HUGE help when doing the service mode convergence adjustments. Here's the direct link: Link Removed I still need to order myself one, and will be very soon.

Panny PT47WX53 - faint vertical line in HD????

I have the same problem on my Panny 53wx53... but not on any DVD source... just the HDTV (hooked to "component 2".) I just assumed it was the cable provider (Cox) since it wasn't a problem on any other inputs. I guess I'll have to get my lazy ass to switch some cables around and try the dvd...

Panasonic 53wx53 problem. Right Side is yellow on white backgrounds

It could be the set's convergence... try going into the service menu and touching it up. www.panny.tv has good info on getting to the service menu and what to do.

Paper Convergence Grid for Panny 53WX42?

Whoops... I just posted a new thread on this... my bad. Hey Johny... I'm gonna drop you an email too, if you don't mind. I'm going nuts looking for the 53" grid myself. :) ADDED: JG, you're a life-saver. Thank You!

    New Panny 53wx53 arrived yesterday!!!!!!!!!

Service Menu... Go into the regular menu... make sure the tv is set to "Cable". Set the sleep timer to 30. Exit the menu. Go to ch. 124. Make sure volume is turned down all the way. Walk up to the tv, and hit the 'vol down' button on the set. That'll bring up "CHK" in red letters on the...

    New Panny 53wx53 arrived yesterday!!!!!!!!!

Congrats man. I'm pretty happy with mine as well. I'd like the convergence to be a little tighter, but other then that, it kicks ass.

Please Help with Service Mode tweaks (Panny wx53)

Thanks... how about the convergence, doing it as to alieve the problem of lining up a color such as red in the middle of the screen, and then being able to move about the screen and tweak it in seperate areas, so all points are 'lined up'?

Please Help with Service Mode tweaks (Panny wx53)

I tried following the "brett's panny tv" sites instructions... but it only got me so far. For instance, when fixing the verticle positioning, I put it on say "03", but as soon as I exit, it goes up to "04". Is there a way to save it before exiting to the main menu? Also, I set the overscan at...

What is the best way to clean an RPTV screen?

Best Buy sells a little kit for RPTV cleaning... should be right out back in the home-theater/big tv section. I think it's by Monster... and it runs $20.

    Too many lights on components

Yeah, it is very annoying. Why do TV's have little 'power' lights? Can we not tell when the friggin' tv is on without a light telling us so? All electronics should have a function where any and all lights are turned off, so you don't have any distractions. My DVD player has that...

    Denon DVD-910 vs. Mitsubishi DD-8040

I have the Mits 8040, and am very happy with it. Although, the only previous player I had before that was a simple Phillips, non-proscan player... so I don't have a wealth of experience. :) I do know that the Mits handles incorrectly flagged DVD's very well. But as far as a comparison to...

    Cleaning a RPTV screen...

Thanks Steve. I found a kit at Best Buy when I got the Freddy vs Jason dvd. It's $20, so I figured I'd wait to see if I could find something a little cheaper. I'll take a look at your kit, and try searching this forum again.

    Cleaning a RPTV screen...

I know this must have been asked about 100 times before, but I did about 10 different searches both on this MB and store sites like Best Buy... so I tried. :) Basically, they must sell a little kit to clean the tv screen with, right? Something cheap, like $10-15? If not, what's the best kind...

Hitachi 57S700 - Blue leak/outline in scenes with white on black

I have the same problem on my Panny 53wx53, although it's not often noticeable. The times I notice it most are actually on the tv's labels.. such as "component one, TV". I try to set convergence up as best I can, but it never lines up perfectly. It seems the blue/red lines are sometimes...

Two week old Panasonic 47wx53... POOF!

Ugh, sorry Wes. When shit like this happens, they should be forced to not only fix the problem, but also pay for the trouble they cause. Too many sets die before they are even broken in.... and when you invest in a big screen tv, it's not exactly easy to move it in/out of your house, and you...

HDTV picture quality... Why is there so much compression???

Allan, The cable box came from the cable company (Cox), it's a Motorola. It's silver, with a smartcard slot on the front. It upconverts all HD material to 1080i. I'm not sure of the model number, since it's not anywhere on the face of the box. On standard def channels, I get a LOT of...

HDTV picture quality... Why is there so much compression???

Thanks for the replies, guys. It's too bad that they ruin an HD signal by not having enough bandwidth. I know the business side of things (stations make cable co's buy all thier channels, not just one), but maybe it's time to cut back on some of the useless channels to make room for HD. Hell...

So I guess you're saying that it's just normal compression, and not something that can be fixed? (that's what I wanted to know).

DVD PQ... is it my player or the dvd?

I just got Finding Nemo tonight... and to my surprise, there seems to be ghosting around some of the fish while in medium/dark areas of the ocean. Basically, Marlin somtimes seems as though he's glowing... same with the blue fish and some of the others. But it rarely (if ever) happened in any...

HDTV picture quality... Why is there so much compression???

I'm not 100% sure this is the right forum, if it's not, I apologize. But I get a LOT of what seems to be compression, on all digital channels (at least most of them), including the HD ones. It's tough to explain, but basically for a moment or two, I'll see a pixelated area of the screen...

Just got a Mits DD-8040 (questions)

Thanks for the advice guys. I am pretty impressed with the overall quality. But if I can get pretty close to the best for only $50 more, why not, right? :) I did find the 1600 for $315 shipped online... so I might go with that.

Just got a Mits DD-8040 (questions)

So far, I'm impressed with the picture quality. It even plays my incorrectly flagged dvds well. But I am curious... if I made the jump to the Denon 1600, would I notice any difference? I'm not interested in DVD-Audio and all that stuff, I just want my DVD movies to look and sound the best...
