hey, haven't posted here in a while. I had a question about cutting up or buying small carpet strips and putting them under my front speakers (def techs) to improve my subwoofer response and clean it up a little. I recently put pergo floors in my room, cause of the dog hair problem, and I knew...
Don, There is definitely a difference that most people could here in DD or DTS vs. MLP or DSD. The problem is not that you can't here it, its that you have to have speakers that can really show the difference of the different formats. Ex: If I sat 10 regular people in front of a setup with...
This may have been a topic in the past, but ive never seen so here it goes. Technically I know that Blu-ray (blue laser) and HD-DVD are not competing formats, because one is used for recording HD-TV and the other is for pre-recorded bought movies. But my concern is the fact that HD-DVD is...

First of all ill tell you exactly why you can use Ian holm. They use stand ins and digitally replace there faces all the time. Do you honestly think christopher lee did all that lightsaber dueling?? HAH. (and Christopher Lee was 79 when he did Ep II according to the commentary) 2nd of all ive...
not defending bob sagat here, but hes actually nothing liek he plays off in FullHouse and Funniest Videos. If youve seen him in interviews and just talking, he has a dirty mouth, hes made a few jokes that made me laugh.
LOTR overall is my favorite sound track of a movie, they also mention it is one of the few movies where the entire music was written specifically for the movie. So ya that boy soprano part is actually part of my tests I do for center channel realism and clarity. I just wanted to add, my...
anybody know a good website with info about blue laser dvd? I did a web search and came up with a bunch of articles that included info about what its storage capacity will be and thats about it. I know the sony blu-ray can record up to 1080i. But im lookin for info on the formats capabilities...
dolby suggests 2-3 feet above your head and slightly behind but not in back of listening position. as much those rules can be broken i dont. give it a try, if it sounds bad you know you have a problem, sorry i coudln't be anymore help
i have the 27" Wega with the 16:9 enhanced mode. I have to tell you, the overall picture clarity is the best you can get from a tube tv and also the closest you'll probably get to progessive scan with a non-HD tv. I've seen quite a few cheaper HD tvs that look nowhere near as nice as those Sony...
ok, thats what i thought, when I use it, it seems to effect the sound significately. I loose alot of the enviornment noise that I hear without it on. Losing alot of the spaciousness of the mix also
did you look at the two ES models that are .05%???? STR-DA4ES STR-DA7ES im not sure why your lookin at the aust. site when we have a nice american site right here.
i was always told the reason why the mix varies so much was to keep it more accurate to real life where not everything is consistently at the same volume. if its only for dolby, im guessing dts doesn't suggest to use it? does everyone use this feature when watching DD? I'm not new to home...
they all the look great. but the pixels are more noticable on the Pioneer and panasonic, as for the Fujitsu ive read alot of good things about them but haven't had the chance to see one yet
tube amplication has been the choice of guitarists for a longgg time. All i can comment on is that tube amplifier have the warmth and smooth sound that solid state can never reproduce quite as well. I have to say for home theater i still prefer solid state
My sony manual for my str-de985 receiver tells me that setting my Dynamic Range Compression to their STD setting is "to reproduce the sound track with the dynamic range intended by the recording engineer". ive always left the compression off because i figured it was a feature only for late...
dont get me wrong, like i said, i believe the 34' direct-view looks every bit as good as the plasma. But i hear alot of people say it looks better and i dont see it. Im also considering the plasma not for the price, but for the size. With a 34' I dont feel I can sit as far as id like from the tv...
i know exactly what you mean. Im a college student and still living at home. So all my Def Tech's are in my room and I have absolutely not room for a 7.1 setup at the moment
I used to think nothing compared to a direct view TV. But now after seeing the Sony Plasma XBR, id strive to say they look better then their best direct-view. now my question really is, I was in a store looking at the 42' Sony Plasma (reg., not the XBR version) and I thought it looks just as...
ok since you have attack of the clones on dvd. You know when the THX screen comes up and that glass ball explodes. Well right after that theres the sound of thunder. And it sounds like its coming directly behind your head even when playing back in a 5.1 setup. From what I can tell, when you play...
its my understanding from my Anthem Brochure that THX Ultra2 Cinema is for use with DD 5.1 DTS 5.1 mixes. And that THX Surround EX is for use with the DD EX, DTS ES (matrix & discete). (keep in mind i am talking for 7.1 playback) does everyone else agree that Surround EX goes better with the...
i have to say, the best part of the trailer, for those who have read the book and are familiar with it. Is with Gandalf and Pippin talking in the room they shared in Minas Tirith. I clearly remember those parts from the book, and i thought it was really cool just the two of them having a regular...
I'm just curious what was the price found on the B&K. Tweeter near me sells them for around $3,000. The anthem avm20 is priced in the store i went to for $2890.
