I've been running an original Cinema Grand 5 x 200 since 1997 troublefree. Most recently with an Onkyo TX-NR801 as a preamp. They sound terrific together. I'm using the current/voltage outputs for my MartinLogan SL-3s and it sounds terrific. I've changed a lot of components since 1997 but...
Hi Matt, Depending on the source you are listening to (I'm assuming redbook CD based on your earlier statements), and your DSP mode (stereo, direct or pure audio), the calibration should not make a difference specifically in bass output. As long as your front speakers are configured as large...
Hi Matt, My question is have you calibrated the receiver? How the channel output levels are set makes a huge difference a receiver's output. When you begin the cal, the receiver should automatically set the absolute output level to 82 and you should calibrate each channel to 75 db at that...
Paul, I see what you mean. I checked out the owners manual for the 6.4 and it just says to not use any speakers that drop below 6 ohms. That's not good :-(
Hi Chad, The Onkyo DV-CP802 6-disk changer has an excellent on-screen display for MP3 playback. It consists of two panes, the one on the left shows the directory structure of the CD, the one on the right shows all the files to be played within the directory. It also has random playback...
Paul, As a test, you could change the impedence to 4 ohms on the speaker settings. This will cause the receiver to run much cooler. Because of the large temperature difference between the 6 and 4 ohm settings, if the sound is caused by heat, that will definately make a difference. I...
Why??? All switching to 4 ohm mode does is lower the output volume to compensate for any increased load. Most speakers dip to 4 ohms (and lower) anyway, and the 801's guide states that if one speaker dips to 4 ohms, use the 4 ohm setting. As long as Darren can reach reference, or a...
I agree. Setting the impedance to 4 ohms will make it run much cooler. I even see a difference at 4 vs 6 ohms using it as a processor w/o directly attached speakers.
Hi Rob, Still happy. Apparently the DV-CP802 will be in the next group of DVD players reviewed at Secrets of Home Theater. So I'm interested to see what they have to say. They completed a test of the Integra DPC 7.4 which I believe is equivalent to the DV-CP702. Here's the link...
Burkland, I replaced my Sunfire Theater Grand II preamp with the TX-NR801 and am using it as a processor for my power amp. I've never plugged speakers into it, I'm using the preouts, so bear that in mind. However, I may use it for rear speakers in the future. As a controller, I can hear an...
Hi Burkland, Here's an article from Sound and Vision regarding the 901. There's also somewhat of a comparision between it and the 900 in the article, and a link to an article containing info about the 900. http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/art...&page_number=1 Hope this helps.
Hi Wayne, Integra is a "high-end" division of Onkyo. The Integra equipment has extra features in relation to the Onkyo, like the control port on the DPC-8.5. I own a DV-CP802 and am extremely pleased with it, so I consider the Integra extra goodness.
I picked one up from OneCall almost two weeks ago. I can say that I like it a lot. The sound is excellent! I've been using the 6-channel output for all audio sources (The 6-channel output even provides bass management for redbook and outputs to the sub). Layer change is good, the mechanism...
I own an Onkyo DV-CP802, picked it up from OneCall for $449. I'm really pleased with it. The audio is terrific, and the picture looks good too. Redbook CD, DVD-A and SACD all sound very good. I can strongly recommend it!

Well, I haven't noticed it, but I haven't looked extensively. There is a review for the predecessor Integra DPC-7.4 changer at the Secrets website. This unit seems to pass blacker-than-black so there were apparently at least a few changes made from that unit.

I received a black one from OneCall yesterday afternoon. The video output looks good, the interlacer is better than my RP-91, but I haven't really tested the video section heavily yet. It was simple to do a color/tint/brightness cal using DVE, but it does have a little overscan. Both DVD-A...
Has anyone heard anything about this new 6-disk Universal DVD changer? To me it looks like the Integra DPC-7.5 with the addition of SACD and DVD-A. Hopefully the video section is better. I notice they are in-stock at OneCall.

I was told the DVDS-1500 was going to be delayed approximately two months by an Ultimate Electronics salesman today (05/17/04). They said the DVD-S2300 Mk II is on schedule. They have the DVD-S1500 in their sale catalog for $399.
Antonio, If you just purchased this locally, I would take it back and test it at the store with your cable. That will resolve if there is a receiver problem or not. Also get them to try it with another cable just to make sure that's not the problem. If you mail ordered it, do the same...
