Quick review on 1080i scaling Liteon LVD2001 DVD Player

I have a Tosh 50H82. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to upgrade this set to DVI input. It supposedly is upgradeable. But I can't find any info on it. More of a curiosity than anything. I'm thinking of either the Bravo or LiteON. DVI may be nice to have in the future.

Never buy an open box RPTV

I bought my 50H81 last year. It was a floor model, I ended up saving about $400 on it. The store I got it from puts stickers on all their floor models that show when they put it on the floor. The TV I took home was put the floor about 4 hours earlier, it hadn't even been plugged in yet. It's...

    Paradigm vs. Axiom vs. Rockets

Jerry, While you're over here, make a trip to the Paradigm dealer(LiveWire), it's not that far from Future House. I know I paid the same amount for 4 Mini Monitors, CC370 + Sub here in Windsor as a friend paid for a Cinema 90 setup in the US. Aaron.

    Clipping & HK525

Not sure about the impedance of the speaker, didn't think to measure it. Which display? The receiver said +4 dB. I was playing through the DVD player, using the PCM, I'm not sure how to measure that signal. It was two channels driven. Aaron.

    Clipping & HK525

I know it is better to use a high wattage resistor, but I don't have one handy. I just played a 1 kHz tone off a CD, turned up the volume until clipping started. About 93% of max volume. Not bad, considering most recievers I've heard of start at around 60%. I'm sure that number will vary...

    Clipping & HK525

I figured I was going to be a little bored this weekend, so I thought, hey, let's test out my HK525 and see where clipping starts. So I borrowed a o-scope from work, and thought how am I gonna do this? I figured pumping some sine waves off a CD through the receiver and scoping the output...

    Rope lights?

It is possible to cut the plug off and wire it directly to whatever switch you want.

    Toshiba vs Hitachi

Roy, I was in the same spot as you about a month ago. I ended up with the Toshiba 50H82. 50" is about the limit for my room, and there are problems (so I read) with this years 50HDX. I looked at the Hitachis and thought the Tosh had a nicer picture. Once I ran through it with Avia, man, it's...

    Paradigm Monitor Series

I listened to B&W too. I didn't like them at all. To me they sounded terrible next to the Monitors. I thought they sounded muffled. I also listened to some Mirage speakers, and didn't like those eater. For me it was an easy decision, the Paradigms were cheaper and sounded better than B&W and...

    Paradigm Monitor Series

Well, I went this morning and bought the package. Set 'em up, and WOW. Night and Day difference between my old JBL (HTIB) set and these. In the room, the 8" sub is fine. The mini monitors for the rears would have broken the bank, so for now, it's Perfomance series back there, but within a...

    Paradigm Monitor Series

I took a couple of hours this evening and headed down to my local Paradigm dealer to audition some speakers. After listening to several discs on several offerings from B&W, Paradigm and Mirage, I settle on this system: Paradigm Mini Monitors - Front CC370 - Centre Performance Atoms - Rears...

    Buying in Canada

I assume you're talking about LiveWire (I think they're the only Paradigm dealers here). The have a good reputation, but I think they can do better. Tell them you'll pay in US currency, and in cash, that may grease the wheels a little. An offer of $1300 US Cash is a good starting point.

    Canadian SVS Owners

There is no duty on Consumer electronics (I think speakers fall into that category). Just tax. PST & GST, oh wait HST in your case. I'm lucky, I work in the US... ship to work, I handle the importing. UPS charges too high of a "brokerage" fee. Aaron.

    Need Splinter Cell help please...

To get rid of that guard, what I did was make the guard inside the room fire a couple of rounds. It doesn't set off an alarm, but it will make the other one come into the room. Once there, hang out in the shadows and knock them both out. There's a third guard outside too, use a sticky shocker on...

    H/K 525 for $618 shipped!

I ordered one this morning after trying unsuccessfully to order one from OneCall (man, they are pretty rude over there). They have a problem with me living in Canada and having it shipped to my work in the US. At any rate, I got it for $618, I noticed the price is now $649. The countdown to...
