Well I took off and went to Yucca Valley before getting to read all the replies so I didnt get to try the reset trick. Told me he would take a look at it and get it all working by next Thursday. Pretty nice guy...even know about the HomeTheater Forum ;). Said the amp chip probably blew and would...
Have to take it in :frowning: Either take it now to Yucca Valley (25mi) or wait a month till I move to Oceanside and drive a few miles to San Marcos. Going over to Palm Springs this afternoon...guess I'll be making a side trip.
Turned it on 10 minutes ago....was listening to music off my xbox just like I do everyday. CLICK. Music stops. I turn around from my computer and the reciever is off. XBOX is still playing, speakers still powered on. Push the power button...nothing. Wait another 30 seconds and push it again. The...
Awaiting mine as well. Gave myself a day to decide if I really wanted it. Then it was out of stock. :frowning: But I can wait since I'm not picking up my speakers until the 21st. Gives me even more time to decide. Hope you guys recieve it soon.
So the MadCatz would be fixed now, which would be good...but I am now tempted to follow your path and go for the Microsoft brand. I'll give my brother a call, says he can get a discount at Best Buy. Maybe then I could even afford Monster Cables ;)
Thanks for the advice and sorry to hear about...
Any catch....Are they crappy quality? This looks like it comes with everything I need (svideo and optical audio cables included). I'd spend $19 + an optical cable if I got the Advanced AV pack vs. just $29.
Anyone else use this?
Mad Catz Ultra AV Kit
I'm not sure what I have :D.
I did some searching to see if anyone else had used their AL 641 speakers with a receiver or extended the length of the wire, since I'll need to do both for this project. From that I found out people had just bought standard speaker wire from Radio Shack and...
Sorry I never included all the info about the situation. Here is the original thread:
XBOX HT
Here's what I've got so far:
Using the Radio Shack cable and clamping or soldering the sets of wire together so they have RCA plugs then connecting it to the pre-outs on the Pioneer VSX-D811S...
The satellites I believe use 16-gauge wire (this is what I know other people have used to extend the length) that is plugged into the back and is not removable. I posted it over in the connections forum
Thanks again for the help!
I am using 4 speakers that have 16-gauge non-removable wire that I need to connect to my receiver which uses RCA plugs. I have been looking around for a 16-gauge to RCA adapter and have been unsuccessful. I have found a 24' phono plug with 18-gauge wire. This is what I need but its 18 not 16. Is...
Thanks for clearing everything up for me Stephen. Do have one last question though...will I have any troubles connecting the speakers and sub to the receiver at all? Any chances that this setup wont work? (Sorry thats 2;) )
I just read about the OneCall deal...it is tempting now. Got 2 days to...
I've been thinking about this for awhile and decided it was time to ask the wise. I just switched bedrooms and thought it would be a good idea for some changes. I have the Altec Lansing 641 speakers for my computer but am now hooking them up to my xbox/TV which is directly in front of my bed. I...
Thanks for the info. I missed out on the HK AVR-320 for $299...might give this a try. I just left the bay area too :frowning: Have to call up a few friends.
Thanks for the info.....I also just remembered the free DVD coupon. I'd buy one or two but I think I've reached my limit already. :frowning:

The xbox is great even without a DD setup. :D
I played it once with my Altec Lansing 641s and it was great. I cant wait till next year when I get my own HT up......And with an HDTV...this thread is making me go crazy with anticipation!!!
You'll definitely enjoy it. :)
Thanks James for the reply, I may just take that advice. I wouldn't listen to too much music. I usually do that while on my computer. (I've got the Altec Lansing 641s and love em) But bass is important. I'm just trying to start out with something cause I don't want to rely on my TV speakers...
Thanks for all the responses guys. I see you all recommend the satellites over the floor standing models so I think I have come to a conclusion for now. Now I am going to have the two mains alone for a little while before I purchase the remaining pieces of my system so I will start by getting 2...
Sorry I fixed that in my post...I mean that I can only afford the 2 front speakers to begin with. A while later I will purchase the remaining speakers to complete my setup.
First off want to say what a great forum. I have read so much over the past week I'm going crazy with ideas for my own HT. I was about to move into a new apartment but that now seems to be put on hold, but either way I'm going to make a few purchases next year.
I am on a tight budget so I've...
