Very good news indeed, even though it means a long wait until the release. Raintree County is such a beautiful epic movie, Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift are adorable in it. I for one can't wait and say: Bring it on as big as you can !! :)
It seems that the editing job on "Hearts of Darkness" is more severe than we all thought, because it has become very quiet about this release. I hold back on buying "Apocalype Now Redux" in hope on a Special Edition including the documentary but i doubt there is much hope for it. It is...
@ Jay E: I don't know if Columbia Tristar Entertainment owns the rights to all of the titles mentioned by you, but if they do maybe they are planning to release a Paul Mazursky Box Set (with Harry & Tonto as the flagship). Now in the days of DVD Box Sets it wouldn't surprise me, although i have...
I just had finished watching Paul Mazursky's "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice" when i stumbled across a feature in the Special Features section of the DVD, namely: "Tales of Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice" which was recorded in September 2003 at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, where David Strasberg...
What happened to "Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte" ? Is it still on schedule for this year ? This is one of my most anticipated DVD releases besides "The Heiress". Bring them on.
Not knowing the comic book i had no preconceptions about the character and thought that Keanu's stoic play perfectly fit the Marlowe meets Exorcist character of this movie. Who could have been better ? Which actor would have been closest to the comic book character ?
Leaving all those bad reviews behind i must say that i really liked the atmosphere this movie generated (besides the meager plot) and i'm eager to own it on DVD. Has anyone heard some DVD plans regarding this film ? Not since Tim Burton's "Sleepy Hollow" was i comfortable on the grounds of a...
It's the same with me. I've got an 4 year old DVD Player from Panasonic (A-360) which refuses to play 60% of my DVDs purchased in 2004, all my old ones from 1998-2003 play just fine. I've also tried to copy my original DVDs from 2004 and the copies would then just play fine. So i am really...
Baby Doll (Kazan) Performance (Roeg) Demon Seed (Cammell) Harry and Tonto (Mazursky) The Tempest (Mazursky) Queimada (Pontecorvo) are the ones i miss most. :frowning:
Does this mean that Where the Buffalo Roam gets its original Soundtrack back, that included some songs from Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix ? That would rock. Or is this just a re-release at a lower price ?
Yes, of course. My player is practically a R1 Player since nearly 80% of my 700+ collection are from that region. That's why i was bothered - but maybe the player is giving up (on DVDL's "different"? mastering) after over 4 years - because the two mentioned DVDs play fine on a friend's...

All my recent DVDs from Docurama (e.g. "The Weather Underground") and Fantoma (e.g. "Tigrero") have one thing in common they won't play ("This type of disc cannot be played. Please insert a different disc.") on my Panasonic A360 player. After investigating i noticed that they all share one...

Does anybody know wether the UK-R2 "Trainspotting: Definitive Edition" 2-disc DVD Edition has the same commentary track, i.e. from the Criterion Collection LD ? If not, that certainly would be a big advantage of the R1 Edition.
I ordered at DVD Boxoffice (Canadian Seller) and my "Tomorrowland" Box has # 609. "On the Front Lines" is #17,182 and "Donald" #14,516. But i noticed that they say on the back that they are only allowed to be sold in Canada. So i guess that all the limited series are twice the numbers printed on...
I have to agree, the Vintage Shorts as well as Grouchos appearance on the TV Talk Show are all first rate, they really fit in the package and perfectly display the humour of that period. Warner has really given us a superb boxset, that was well worth the wait. Keep on.
Here is the mail from Criterion mentioned in James Robert's post: Criterion 2 Carney From: Peter Becker President of Criterion Video The Criterion Collection Subject: Bad news Dear Ray, I'm sorry to have to tell you that we won't be including your commentary or essay in...
Thank you Jay for the information regarding the rights of "Husbands". BTW do you know anything more on any plans of a future DVD release of it ? It is a shame that Gena Rowlands is so strict about the recently found 57 version of "Shadows". Hopefuly she will think it over to help in shedding...
That is really great news, but why is it not possible to include his film "Husbands", which is a personal favourite of mine ? There is also a great part of the french tv-interview-series "Cinéastes de notre temps" on Cassavetes, hopefully they get a hand on this also. ...wishes, wishes...
Has nobody ever thought about the fact that the small amount of magnetism radiating from these stickers might accelerate the aging process of our precious DVDs ? Huh, anyone ? :D :D Am i the only paranoic one; who doesn't care about Aliens, when the enemy is already within the package :wink...
