Hey all, I am trying to make a decsion on a small HT setup. I am having to sell my floor standing speakers and get a satellite setup for a small living room. I will have very limited space where I am placing my TV and thus I need a fairly small speaker combo to place around it. My...
Hi, Thanks for the great info. Unfortunately don't have a backup DVD player to test...but I will get one today and test it out..what a shame, this is a newly released DVD player too..and not cheap at all.
Thanks for the tips. It looks as though my current player has the bug, so I may indeed have to get the 1600, that seems to be the best solution. Thanks again for your feedback it makes my decision that much easier.
Well I just got the new Sony S50ES integrated DVD/receiver. And whenever I see bright reds or blues it is very, very pixelated....is this the chroma bug? I have seen it in at least 3 movies.
What's more, I have seen a visible, slim, band of discoloration at the top and bottom of letterboxed...
Hi,
Luke..yeah I've been ALL over the, web including Crutchfield.com to try and get info on USABLE space...it's not 10" for the bottom though, I think it's more like 8" and maybe 6.5 or 7" on top..sometimes I really have to wonder what those crazy guys at sony are thinking. ;)
Thanks for...
Who the hell is Mark Russ? :D
heh heh..okay so one vote for Marantz...
I won't be able to do an A/B test unfortunately...but I will be able to at least listen to them seperately in different shops.
I think if you do not have an extended warranty you should still call the store from which you bought the TV and ask them what it would cost to have them serivce the TV. And then perhaps call a few other stores just to compare prices.
Sorry to hear. :frowning:
Hi,
I just need some measurements of the actual area where you can place components..I have guesstimated the width to be 32", but I need to know the vertical clearance for the bottom shelf and the top.
Thanks in advance. :)
If there are four, there are actually five I think...
...Don't forget the Marantz 7300, great reviews, similarly priced and smimilar feature set.
I am in the same arena here...but I narrowed it down to the Marantz and the Onkyo...can't decide. :frowning:
I have finally narrowed it down to two receivers at almost identical price points and features. Now I am just looking for a final vote or feedback on these two receivers.
It may indeed boil down to a good listen, but if anyone has any special insights they can share it would be very much...
Thanks Lance, But between those panasonics and the Sony ES product...I would go with the Sony. panasonic makes good stuff...but the Sony 50es is a fairly solid product for an integrated piece...besides, I think Ihave seen the light and will be going with the seperate receiver and dvd...mid...
Hi keith, Sorry never saw this post from you...well, you will laugh and call me names and make fun of my dog or something if I tell what I have now. I am just now getting into the next level of this...going from LoFi to MidFi, if you will. Current setup: Panasonic RP82 (very happy...
Okay guys, thanks for more feedback...you are, of course, correct. I was just going for simpler is better, and hoped because it was an ES product it would perform well...but you are right...nothing beats the flexibility and quality of keeping things as seperate as possible.
So I have a list of...
Oh wow! Responses!!! Jay E
It's really driving me crazy...right now these are the candidates I have read good things on and will try to test; any thoughts are appreciated...and yes I have searched and read on all of these units.
Receivers:
Pioneer Elite 45 tx (read about some power...
Well I jsut check prices and features on the 900..it exceeds my budget...the lowest I can find it for is around $1250. It does idneed have some great features... ...any other suggestions? The Marantz 7300 still seems like a great receiver...big improvements over the 7200.
Gee...don't make me feel guilty or anything! :P
I want both, good looks and good sounds, but it would seem the two will cost me considerably..so if I have to opt for one or the other..I will go for function over form. :frowning:
I think that is tantamount to 'throwing the baby out with the bath water'. Just because 1 or even a few products have given you problems doesn't mean the entire line is messed up, especially over the span of several years. To limit yourself like that seems myopic. Some people recognize...
Point taken. I hear good things about Onkyo, but never really about the great sound, so much as all the great features...I don't need all the plug-ins to be honest. I just want a great sounding receiver to take advantage of my speakers and dvd's and cd's. The 900 looks great, but is it the...
I have read through all these threads until my head smacked against my monitor...some great thoughts out there. I think I am hoping just for some sort of bottomline statement...but opinions are running strong. I'll post what I have and what I am looking for. Thanks in advance for answering yet...
I already have a gopher...what else ya got? ;)
The $50 in cash is tempting, but you might need it to buy some new jokes...ba doom boom! thank you! I'll be here all week, don't forget to tip your waitress. :D
Heck by this summer, you might be able to "foray" into the realm of 34" HDTV 16:9 goodness....mmmmm, yum, technology gewd!
Seriously, I think the prices will drop on a view of the very attractive 34" HDTV's out there...close to the 1k mark...could be a bountiful time for bargain hunters.
But...
Well I just didn't want you to think it was a wimpy component. ;)
Just cuz it's sleek and sexy doesn't mean it can't have any muscle. But my review will take a lil bit to form. I am exercising patience as I set some new goodies up. :D
I have not seen the Zenith...but the 27" Samsung (HDTV 2798) is incredible. I just posted in another thread about this TV. I love the picture and the sound. And to have HDTV as a possibility is fantastic. I went through the Sony and Panasonic and finally the Samsung, it really was saving the...
