No No No... the X20 line is definitely better then the x25 line. unless you need your receiver to power 7 channels there is no reason to move to the 525. The loss of main ins is one big factor here. I auditioned them side by side and DD EX sounded the same as DD to me. Just my 2 cents
and if you dont mind getting a demo model you can get a great deal on H/K products here in Canada. I paid $680 taxes and shipping to Ontario included for an AVR 320. email [email protected] if you are interested. They will sell anything on the Harmanaudio.com website for the US price times...
I agree... H/K sound great with Paradigms.. (Thats what I have).. Denon and Yamaha Sound fantastic with Paradigms for HT. The H/K is a little more musical.
I have heard CC will price match if you print out the article from costco and show it to them... worth a try.
For info on the AVR 520 check here

H/K also has a 5 disc DVD player here is the link...
From my auditioning the Denon vs. the H/K i would give the Denon the edge in HT and the H/K the edge in music... again it comes down to taste... If you wont be able to make use of the 6th or 7th channel right away you can get an AVR 320 for less then an 1803 i think.. or the AVR 520 is on...
Oh well... I mainly use the Logic 7 anyhow... I have to use DPL II for DD 2.0 which is what a lot of ppv movies on my dish are encoded in.. was hoping i could open it up a little more.... Guess not.
There is a great deal on the AVR 520 in the forum here.. From onecall I believe... The 520 is a fantastic reciever and can be had for less then the 325... it only has an amp for 5 channels with a preamp output for the two rears.. If you are only running 5.1 this would be your best bet. It...
I am no expert but here is my take.... First if you dont like the sound of the Yammie take it back. Second Yammie's do an excellent job of HT. They are not as musical as others. H/K is more musical then most and also does a great job of HT. I liked the Denon 1803 best for HT but since i listen...

In this picture it appears the 320 can overlay Logic 7 from 7.1 source material.... But sadly it can not. I think it is their standard display for advertising to show DVD and Logic 7... ie. get all the high points in at once.
I bought this unit specifically to upgrade to DPLII and never even thought about Logic 7, when watching DSS i am leaning towards the Logic 7. It just seems a little more open. I run Toslink from my DSS to the H/k 320.
I hear you on the blowing out the house... let alone my ears... when i put mine up to -15 I was worried about the windows :D
I agree the DSP's are useless... I dont care for them on any receiver though... I thought I would mainly use 5 ch. stereo for music but Logic 7 sounds much better...
I have the H/K 320 matched up with all paradigm's. It sounds fantastic for music and movies. But I agree if your primary purpose is music go marantz or H/K. I found the Marantz a little too warm for my liking... The Denon seemed to have the edge in HT but I listen to music 70% so I went with the...
Well i am finally all set up and all I can say is .... Logic 7 Kicks Ass...... For 5 channel music and 5 channel tv watching... who needs DPLII?
Still trying to get everything set up correctly... using the EZ setup is definitely helpful but it seems you have to redo it for each source? Am I...

Was browsing the harman audio site when i came across this HTIB.
http://www.harmanaudio.com/search_br...PROPACK 600-Z
Looks like a lot of system for 440 US. Havent seen any reviews but if anyone is looking for a HTIB in this price range probably worth considering.
I am glad this thread is here... although Ive never purchased Bose its reputation has always been that of "they make small speakers that sound better then big ones" of course for a higher price as well. I've never really auditioned Bose because Ive always been a huge Paradigm fan. But didnt...
The dust cap on these speakers is an open weave mesh... ie. air could always move freely through it so I am not too concerned with the porting change. I leave the grills on these speakers always.. so dust can still be a concern but less of one. What I was wondering is will it effect the higher...
OK.... how about 500 canadian.... This is a great litlle starter system for someone. I ran my sat. DVD, and CD player off this guy. The two 3-way towers have 12 " drivers which were great for stereo listening. The only negative reviews on the reciever is that it runs hot... Ive never had that...
OK, the dust cover over the voice coil on my speaker was rattling a little. It had become loose on the bottom so I completely removed it. Does this serve any purpose other then preventing dust from entering the voice coil? Should i glue the dust cover back on or get a new dust cover? The...
Well I have just completed my upgrade from my entry level system... Now its time to part... I have a Technics 100W x5 SA-G90 DD/DTS receiver (identical to the SA-DX940) with a pair of SB-a28 towers and the SBcss480 center & surrounds.
Paid 1100 CAD a year ago will sell for 600 CAD obo.
The...
I picked mine up from the Canadian counterpart of Harman Audio.. email [email protected]. They honor any price on the harman audio website.
So I ended up paying 400 for a refurbished unit. The shipping from any US etailer was around 75 US to Canada so I decided to go with the Refurb... it has...
I just ordered my H/K 320 today. Everyone says it is better musically. I should have it Thursday. I will let you know if I feel I made the right choice then. I think I did. It was 100 less and has more upgradeability.
Now i need to find a good 2 channel amp for the second room. :)
Does it...
I am now in the middle of the same decision.. I was set on the H/K until I went to the Denon dealer and listened to the 1803 with similar paradigms to my own. Needless to say the sales guy pushed the 1803 as being just as good as the 2802 with slightly less power.(hmmm...) I did really like the...
