Thanks fellas! B&K ref50/Anthem AVM20/ROTEL RSP-1068/Sherwood Newcastles P965 Can someone please rank them in order of what they think the best to the worst is.
I am very hesitant to go used, unless I can pick it up locally. I was thinking a 5 channel amp, and a processor with some component in and out capabilities. I was thinking about $1500 on each. What are some good amps and preamps in the sub 2k street price range?
So in preparation for my Yamaha reciever to die due to being drenched with juice, I thought I would go for separates. I have a $3000 budget for both, and was wondering what the best combo for that cash would be. I have a 5.1 Klipsch RF7, RC7, RS7, SVS 2231 set up. Keep in mind that I would...
Woo Hoo...sort of. Looks like time heals all. Today just for the hell of it, I tried turning it on again and walla. It's alive!!!. Its a little quirky though. It turned off again after about 5 minutes, but I was able to quickly turn it on again. Then for some reason it went into headphone mode...
Well I've done it now...While watching TV in my bedroom I spilled some juice on my reciever. The HTR-5280 has some slots on the top to vent and I watched the juice rush into the slots like a river. The receiver was on at the time it happened, and about a second after the juice rushed into the...
Well I don't think I will ever buy fluance speakers. Gold Sky obviously knows that these speakers are being sold through this scam, yet they continue to do it. I think its a little different when car manufacturers try to design a cheap yet reliable car, and the end product end up being crap...
Thomas even though I know that anyone of these amps would be overkill for the klipsch, I want to buy the best amp I can get for the money. If I ever decide to get the relatively inefficient dynaudio contours then I want to already have an amp to power them. Chu the only amps that I would...
This is in continuation of my other thread. I started out with 5 amps, and people kept reccomending amps and now I have finally narrowed it down to 5. The office is now closed to other amp reccomendations and it will be one of these 5. I have ranked them in what I feel is their proper order...
what exactly do the different classes in amps mean? What is the advantage of having balanced inputs? I still haven't made up my mind because basically all those amps get reccomended by people so there is practically no way for me to seperate them. Based on my research and keeping in mind theey...
Well 2k is what i have to spend on the amp, since i still have to get a preamp. SO Theta and krell are unfortunately out of the picture. I keep getting all these reccomendations for rotel, although I too have heard that rotel has "bright" amps. Ya I know 200 watts is a complete overkill, but...
As I keep up the research and off of your replies and in other forums, I am starting to lean away from some choices and I wish to include some others. Man I change my mind too quick. Well the wallet has a lot to do with this as well. Which is the main reason that I am getting rid of Bryston...
shane as I continue to research this topic, I think I may be leaning towards going the cheaper route. I keep reading many opinions from people not being able to tell the difference amongst quality amps. I really should have thrown in the B&K 200.5 or the 125.5 because its the only brand that my...
So many amps and so little money, what to do???? I have started narrowing down the amps a little bit and was hoping you guys can help me choose a winner. 1. Bryston 9B sst or 9B ST. 5 x 120. A little bit out of my range, but might get lucky on audiogon and I would be willing to stretch the...
Blasphemy!!! Halen I hereby sentence you to 9 full days of tweaking your system. I can't even start a movie until I have made all the proper tweaks and what not to my modest system.
So is the general consensus that the voltage thing is bs? So what other amps do you reccomend? What other amps would you put in the same league as the sherbourn 5/5210?
I am looking in getting a good 3 or 5 channel amp in the $1500 - $2000 region and was going to use my old reciever(yamaha htr 5280) as the pre/pro. I went looking for one and the sales man told me that I should be concerned with the amount of voltage my reciever can handle but I don't completely...
carol you wouldn't happen to have any single sisters would you?:b Hell at least your getting that mighty pb 2. Im curious to hear about the upgrade, you must post it when that beast arrives. P.S GO GATORS!!
Do you have any video cable connected to the system in anyway? As in, is there a TV connected somehow to the system? I had a ground loop problem that was caused by the cable for my tv. ALso they sell something called a ground loop isolator that may help you. I think radio shack sells them.
Just finished watching it. I saw the opening sequence twice since on saturday the projector broke in the imax theatre I was watching it in. First I must say that the imax experience is worth the extra dough that you spend. Much better audio and video. Secondly that opening...
I at first had digital cable, but went to direct tv because of all the sports options and basically they had more channels. I am a big florida gator fan and watching there games are a must. NFL ticket is pretty nice as well. The sony SAT A65 direc TV reciever I have is great and I can zoom...
Great beta vcr story randy. Gave me a good laugh. Damn I'm sort of feeling this pressure as well and my girlfriend doesn't live with me yet, but will in August. I try to inform her about the pros and cons of the equipment and try to include her in the decision process. Worked relatively well so...
A little off topic, but a question for RON. Is there any place that I could read your DVD reviews that you have made in the past. Not just the ones that are currently posted. P.S If your friend can manage book shelves than he would get a huge improvement.
All these measurements and numbers are fine, but it really comes down to what sounds better. The numbers are really irrelevant. I have experimented with both having my mains both small and large, and have tweaked my sub settings, and no numbers will convince me that they should be set to small...
I used to have the Klipsch RF3's which had 8" woofers and I found that setting them to small was definetely the best way to have them. The bass on them was not able to keep up with the svs, so the bass wasn't as smooth as I wanted. I recently upgraded to the Klipsch RF7's and they sound better...
The RSW is a very smooth sub. THat would be the best way for me to describe it. Great looking and smooth. Ive seen many review it as being a more musical sub, while svs is more of a home theatre sub.
I will agree with Curtis and put a vote in for the Klipsch RF7, and now more than ever that there going cheap at Tweeter and any of its associates. The clarity is really great on these, which I think is pretty essential for movies.
damn fine setup. You went from having nothing to this!!! Talk about an upgrade. Damn that sub is freakin huge. It makes the 40" TV look pretty small. I don't know how your not sweating having all those cones exposed. I wouldn't let anyone in that room. By the way Tom or Ron, will there be...
