------------------------------------------------------------ Dr. Muto for PS2 (and soon GCN) Name another game where you control a creepy, muttering, cursing, mad scientist who has just destroyed his planet. Oh, and you can genetically alter yourself into a rodent, a gorilla, a spider, etc...
I really enjoy the really creative and unusual games like Munch’s Oddysee, but I can’t think of very many, so that’s probably the best one I’ve seen. I’d like to know if there are other games like that.
Hey Marshall, I remember Tron. I can still here the sounds of the speed bikes. zzzzzzzzz. Pretty cool. Do you think that any of the classics can be brought back, updated and made better?
Oh, 1982 for parsec. So it was a coupla years after the release of Defender. What it made just for home systems. I don't recall seeing it in arcades. Anyone tried the new Defender?
Dean, parsac reminds of the old defender screen. http://www.defender.midway.com/ I'll see if I can find a screen. Add a little more colr and you got it. When dod that come out?
Obviously, a lot of the older gamers will say Pong, but it’s fun to put things into perspective and see which games were “firsts” for gamers across the board.
WOW!!! Some of these lists are amazing. What are a coupla of the best games in your list and why. I hoped to bulk up my collection by seeing some of your lists.
PS2: GTA3 Vice City MOH:Frontline Time Splitters Defender MLB Slugfest Unreal Tournament Metal Gear Solid 2 Resident Evil: Code Veronica NHL Hitz Star Wars Star Fighter Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex Pac Man World 2 Midnight Club XBOX: Halo Max Payne Hitman 2 The Thing...
Hey Brian, are you talking about the compilation games, where they put 15 or 20 old games on one disc? Nah, the ones I like are like Defender or like you said, Tempest where they actually re-design it for a new gen. Remakes when done right can be cool.
Iain, funny you mention that. I was totally into that game for the PC when it cam out but I'm getting kinda bored of those games now. I just rented Dr. Muto and really enjoy the cartooney sort of wackiness about it. Have you tried it yet. I think you would like it based on what I've heard from ya.
I've never seen the new tempest. I do however remember the original and spending many hours in my local convenience store, spending boatloads of quarters. Is the original one two dimensional like the original? I really liked what they did with the new Defender. The 3D effect translated nicely...
Iain Lambert, excellent point and well taken. Guess I was looking at it wrong. Maybe I've been playing a bit to much vc. I'll look a little more carefully next time I'm at blockbuster.
So many people love this game now, but I’ve never played it. I just take one look at the box cover art and think “this game looks like it’s for kids 7 and under.” To those of you who have it: is the gameplay so good that you can overlook the silly appearance?
I went ahead and rented Defender to see for myself if it was worth getting. It’s just amazing how far games have come since the original classic Defender. The short of it is, it takes a little getting used to the controls at first (like most flying games, really) but once you’ve got the hang of...
I have to go with Jimmy Patterson from the MOH series. Great music too. Mario is always a classic too. Anyone seen the Dr. Muto character. http://www.drmuto.midway.com/ Imagine mario older and as a crazy scientist. Anyone tried the game?
