For this application the spiral upcut is better. It "pulls" the saw dust up and out of the circle you are cutting. But either one will work fine. I have used both type of bits routing out circles. The 1/4 in. is the better choice and is a more versitile bit.
Thanks that was what I was looking for. Too bad I already sealed the back up and used accoustic foam since I already had it. I can probably remove the foam throught the holes drilled for the speakers. It will be a pain but I want to do it right. Thank you for the link.
I am currently building new speakers for my HT and was going to use foam aka egg carton foam instead of polyfill. Are they for the same usage or since the design calls for poly use that? If I use the foam do I need to take allowances in interior demensions like you need to for braces? Thanks
So taking a few of the ideas from this thread I ahould be looking at speakers that have "tight" off axis response to the "on-axis" response those would be better for a HT situation than for music. Is that correct or am I way out in left field.
Kind of off topic but it was brought up, I have seen measurements of dispersion of speakers. Is that something that the average person can measure or does that take some special equipment. All of this has been some interesting talking. It makes sense to me thank you.
Good reading. So really the "cabinetsdesign" make more of a difference than the individual speakers. The dayton III design over at speakerbuilder.net look good to me but I have read in a couple of places that they are more a musical speaker rather than a HT speaker.
I have been looking at kits and designs and some claim that they are good for "music" listening but not for home theater situations. I know that some designs can't be converted into center channels but is that all?
I have been eyeing that kit. The kit41 I beleive you are talking about. I like it but for some reason having the WR125S runs fullrange bothers me. They are exactly in my price range and is what I am probably going to get. THe sad thing is I love adire products and think the extremis looks...
I was planning on buying the speakers seperate and building the crossovers myself and notices jsut how expensive those ushers are. I am already well over my budget so I was hoping to substitute the tweeters. Is there any other designs on the web that use the extremis, WR125S and maybe a cheaper...
I like the the design of the Exodus Audio LCR Kit but I already have a pair of GR-T1 tweeters, how would it sound if I replaced the usher 9950C-15 with those? The frequency response looks a little smoother than the 9950C-15 also both start rolling off at the same frequencies. But the GR-T1...
Been a long time lurker but this is my first post. I built a sealed 122L tempest. I am going to build a ported enclosure for it also just to see which I like better. I have decided on the SBB4 design from adire's website. The mistake I made was that I bought 4 in PVC from the Local Home Depot...
