Power cord and surge protector advice?

Chris, I'm reminded of a scene from a sitcom that shall remain nameless. Star of the show: Where are you from? Guest: Well, where we're from, we don't end sentences with prepositions. Star: So, where are you from....bitch?

Power cord and surge protector advice?

I got one much like the one Manny got, only I got mine at Best Buy for $50. It has 1480 joules, but the rest looks like the one he got. I know I could have gotten it cheaper on the net somewhere, but I needed it today. Bill Kane...thanks again for all of your advice on this!

Progressive Scan DVD players at Sears? Anyone know of any good ones?

Actually, it was floor sample, but they had marked the price down to $109 on the remaining ones before I got the last one at $99. The $109 was down from $129. The Sears website, though, still has it at $169...or they had it there the day I got mine.

    Newbie question

Thanks, again, Bill. I think I should go with the Max series. We have enough storms here for sure. I know a few people that have had things fried lately, albeit things like microwaves and smaller appliances. For $40-50 more, it's worth the risk.

    Newbie question

Bill...I edited the top after you posted. I guess I'm too slow on the draw. Here's the repeat: In quickly searching the net, and by no means an exhaustive search, I found a Panamax DBS surge protector for $42. (supposedly a $99 product). Does this sound like it would work? Or do you need...

    Newbie question

Thanks James and Bill. James...good advice on waiting, although I think I can check some friends' cable boxes to see if it is S-video compatible. Bill...after reading your write-up, is it safe to assume that I don't need a very expensive (i.e. very elaborate) surge protector if a DVD...

    Newbie question

Hi all. Great forum you have here. I have a couple of questions. I'm just getting into the home theater spectrum. I have a few items that I've purchased, but now I need to know what exactly I need. My tv is a HDTV-ready Mitsubishi 55" WS. I just bought a Panasonic RP56 Progressive Scan...
