You would see Optimus Prime....with a torn shirt...on a hilltop...screaming: (in his best Charlton Heston voice) SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE...YOU'RE EATING PEOPLLLLLLLE! er....I mean.... You did it you morons! You destroyed it all!
Kimo, I didn't try my component video switching either, I just couldn't justify the cost of another cable at 40-50$. Especially since the S-video doesn't work so well.... I read something in the manual about the S2 being converted to S-video, but it was very vague, and I think it may have...
I have had my Tosh 57hx83 for about a week, and although I feel comfortable that I have everything connected the best way possible, I was wondering if there is any way to get my set to show me what type of signal it is displaying. ex: when playing ESPN 2K4 football for Xbox...how do I know it...
Kimo, Thanks for the reply..the problem is exactly as you described. Luckily enough, the 2 component, and 2 s video's in the rear of my new Tosh are enough for now.... Thanks again, Matt
Hoping someone can shed a little light here for me... Just took delivery of my Tosh 57HX83, and have come to find that when I use my Sony STR DA4ES as a video pass-through for the S-Video from my PS2/Directivo/anything I am getting some noticable wavy lines.... I am using higher quality...
I can try to get some peeps together for Capt's vacation.... I mean basically we just need to post which game to hook up and everybody can check their friends lists..... I am going to give GR a shot this coming Thurs, and since I have never even played it, should be fun... I am not...
Ray, I'll give it a shot....but I have not even played it yet. I just got it...if you don't mind sharing a few tips with a noob, I'm in... BTW, I am usually pretty good with FPS and TPS games...
All I can say is.....
Beer Monkey is Clan of One's B***h!

Nick, I have a 4ES and am not sure if it is the same remote. If it is, to switch normal surround sound modes, push in on the scrolling button in the center. This is the same button you press when changing the sound field. When I select a sound field, I push this button to enter the sound...
good point, well, with $50 I could use it as a discount for a new TV, after all, I am saving 50 bucks ...right....right.... (the preceding gibberish was caused by temporary HT insanity)
Thanks guys! I think the whole 'digital' connection is the puzzle pc I am missing. I plan on getting a coax conn for the DVD audio when the new DVD arrives (Crutchfield was nice enough to give me $50 for buying the new DVD so that should more than cover the cable I need) Thanks again...
Hi all, Question regarding digital connection. I have my DVD player currently hooked up via S-video and a pair of RCA's. When I ask my recvr (str-da4es) to auto-decode a DVD, it reverts to 2 channel with sub. I can manually set it to 'normal surround' and get all 6 speakers to function...
Michael, Thanks for the quick reply and advice, from what it sounds like, my thinking was correct, so I can keep it in budget and still get a good DVD player for my current needs! Thanks! Matt
Guys and Gals, Is it really worth my dough to get a progressive scan DVD player if I don't have HDTV? I am not planning on replacing the RPTV with HD for a few years, so my thoughts were to just get a nice DVD player for under 200$ and replace it with a PS DVD when the TV goes bye bye...
Hi all, Still a noob, so forgive the clarity or lack thereof of the following questions... Let's start with setup... Sony STR-DA4ES Polk RM6600 Speaker set I am going to attempt my first tune-up this weekend using the S&V disc along with a radio shack SPL meter. 1. Is there...
My post got locked in the middle of typing, but I guess the topic still came in huh? Ok, if IIRC, #1 How easy is tuning using the S&V disc and the analog Radio Shack level meter? I have both, but being a rookie to HT I wanted to get an honest answer, not the reviews shown on Amazon.com...
