I love the RoundUp! I been checking it faithfully every week since it started, whether I buy anything or not. Please keep it going. Love the new retailers. Never heard of Bill Moose! Another possible retailer to look out for is Atomic Movie Store. Good company. https://www.atomicmoviestore.com/
Just here to comment on my love for that THELMA & LOUISE "British Quad" poster in the post. I don't know if its a new, contemporary design but that's ten times better than the old US one-sheet!
Excellent point! Plus it's worth noting in the almost 40 years they've been producing physical media they haven't raised their prices, in fact they are lower than they used to be. During the laserdisc era standard releases were typically $40 retail- same as today, and that includes supplements...
Plus the majority of screens in the US were small box theaters with a single speaker behind the screen. Leon Vitali talks about this in regards to FULL METAL JACKET, the importance of having a good mono mix because you couldn't rely on every screen to have a decent sound system.
Well I went back tonight and looked at TMF in 4k on Vudu via my Xbox and the brightness fluctuations were gone. Not sure why. Hadn't changed any settings on my Xbox or TV. Maybe Vudu and/or WB discovered the problem and quietly fixed it.
Actually, I'm having the brightness changes as well. Bought the movie off Vudu and I see the fluctuations. Tried different streaming hardware on different tvs and the changes are there, too. I have Movies Anywhere so I checked the Amazon and MA versions- no changes in brightness. In fact on MA...
Thanks. I went ahead and pulled the trigger for it and MM: Beyond Thunderdome for $8 each. Road Warrior looks exceptional. BT slightly less so but both worth it.
How are the quality of the Godfather movies on 4k streaming? I'd love to get the UHD discs but it's still pretty pricey. Right now Vudu has them for US$10 each.
Can anyone confirm if the the new 4k disc fixes the repeated shot? It happens right after the mall chase- the shot of the 8 track player in the car is repeated. I'm assuming it was an authoring error related to the seamless branching. I believe all streaming HD versions have the error as well...
The John Sturges commentary from the new blu-ray of The Great Escape is another example. In fact, I remember reading it was one of the last things Sturges did before he died the following year. The editors of the commentary actually had to edit around breathing apparatus he was using.
Not sure if this is new but if you’re an Amazon Prime member you can purchase the streaming version of Chernobyl for $10. It appears you don’t get access to any extras but if you just want the miniseries that’s probably a steal!
Edit: I discovered that it isn’t covered by Movies Anywhere. I’m...
I have to admit even I don’t know the difference between JDC and countless other anamorphic formats. I will say Return of the Jedi as never looked right to me. Every shot looks claustrophobic- like wide angle lenses were forbidden. Was this a cost-cutting measure on Lucas’s part? Less screen...
Here is an interesting write up of when Criterion released Prince of Tides on laserdisc in 1994. It would be interesting if all the original supplements carried over.

Just saw it last and absolutely loved it. However I have some issues with the 35mm presentation. I’ll do my best to tip toe around spoilers...
The biggest issue was the sound. It sounded like it was a magnetic or optical soundtrack but was dragging or being tugged through the projector. The...
I have the new 4K disc with the code for the digital download. Interesting thing I just checked: The Amazon, Google Play and Vudu versions all have the fade out. iTunes and Fandango have the cut to black.
Quick note: The blu-ray of Led Zeppelin’s Song Remains the Same is NOT the concert film, but a blu-ray audio disc of the soundtrack album. The Amazon page on it doesn’t make that clear.
Are you sure? The release date on Flicker Alley’s website lists 5/8 for both. Plus I should get Windjammer tomorrow.
Hang on, looks like Amazon is selling it next week. So you’re right. I think Flicker just released it a week early if you ordered it through their website.
I picked up the blu of "Honeymoon in Vegas" for $3 at my local Big Lots in Olathe, KS. Not a great looking transfer but for $3 you really can't complain.
