I get the Docter promotion, but I'm kind of scratching my head over Lee. I know she was a writer on Wreck-it-Ralph, co-directed megahit Frozen, and then was the lead writer on A Wrinkle in Time. That's a pretty good start on a résumé (Frozen in particular), but it doesn't exactly scream studio...
I'm salivating over the prospect of replacing my aging AVR with this sparkling new Dolby Atmos-enabled unit as the heart and nervecenter of my home theater. The best audio experience I've ever had was in an Atmos theater. Someday, I will recreate that experience at home, hopefully with this...
You know the first attraction I ever built when I came down south from Scotland? It was a Flea Circus, Petticoat Lane. Really quite wonderful. We had a wee trapeze, and a merry-go... carousel and a seesaw. They all moved, motorized of course, but people would say they could see the fleas. "Oh, I...
A new Rocky transfer correcting the problems with the current release would be most welcome! Mark me down as a definite "will buy." Hope this news is true.
It's probably an older SVS passive s/w.Chris, I use emotiva amps to power my full SVS system and love the results. They make a good match imho. I don't have direct experience with that particular monoblock unit, though I hear good things. SVS cust support might have some good amp...
Wanted to mention a couple years out and Cars 2 is still my boys' and their friends' favorite film (ages about 5-8). The 'Pixar does Bond' theme really resonates with these kids in a powerful and lasting way.
Fantastic film! Easily my favorite "Apes" film. Agree with the above poster: Mr. Lithgow and especially Caesar were brilliant. Can't wait for the Blu-ray and wouldn't begrudge a sequel...
Nah, AVATAR 3D was a total-immersion experience most of us had never experienced in theaters before. Unlike the vast majority of the "me-too" 3D films that followed, it was worth the premium for the experience, even upon multiple repeat viewings. It's not "3D" that needs to go away, it's bad...
Cars 2 is currently 58 at metacritic and 39% (ouch) on rotten tomatoes. Could this be Pixar's first dud?
Looking forward to seeing the film for myself.
Super-8 transported me back to some mysterious, half-remembered era of my youth. I had so much fun with this film, I was easily able to overlook its flaws and thoroughly enjoy the movie magic. Loved it!
From someone that mostly enjoyed X-men and *hated* X2 -- and after Superman Returns had nearly lost all faith in Mr. Singer to produce anything worthy of its admission fare ever again -- First Class was outstanding and bests the previous X-movies by a Grand Canyonesque margin.
Interesting thread. While I truly detest some of the films mentioned here (Armageddon, Superman Returns, Independence Day), I have FAR stronger feelings about the television show GLEE than any film. I hate, hate, HATE that show!
Some of you may be interested to know about the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale going on at SVS: (cut and pasted from website) AS-EQ1 sub EQ is $599 when purchased with any Ultra or Plus sub. And only $499 with dual subs! 10% off all single subwoofers Additional 10% off select 5.0...
For the past 6 years, our local IMAX theater has held annual screenings of The Polar Express in conjunction with a Christmas-themed train ride event of the same name. This has become a much treasured annual tradition for our extended family. When the annual IMAX film screening was discontinued...
Could production on The Hobbit begin as early as January? Some encouraging news from the LA Times:

Wow! What a brilliant film! Totally blown away. Nolan strikes all the right notes in a symphony of beautiful madness. Like The Prestige before it, I expect much of the richness of the screenplay to be revealed upon subsequent viewings and on Blu-ray. Thoroughly intriguing, mind-bending...
Just saw this masterpiece with my wife kids and I can tell you it struck a major chord with all of us for some of the same reasons, but also some different. Prevented only by a slow second act from surpassing the two previous entries in the series, it contains some of the most emotionally...
Being a fan of the original series, I've now watched every episode of the V remake series.
I really want to like it, but I've found it to be one of the most poorly written and directed television series I've seen in years. Admittedly, I don't watch much TV so for all I know it might be one of...
Hud: "Okay, just to be clear here, our options are: die here, die in the tunnels, or die in the streets. That pretty much it?" Rob Hawkins: "Yeah... that's pretty much it." Cloverfield (2008) http://www.hometheaterforum.com/forum/thread/267889/official-cloverfield-discussion-thread

I appreciate your comments, but I must disagree with the above on all counts.
Many (most?) recent 3D films had mass appeal in proven genres. There were many who predicted a flop--even on this forum--as an increasingly negative buzz was simmering in final months leading up to release...
