    PC Power Supply Upgrade?

I upgraded the PSU in my HP to an Antec 350W a while ago. It did involve grinding a small piece off the back of the case but other than that it went smoothly. It's about a year and a half old and you probably have the same case. Actually I upgraded almost everything imaginable in it before I got...

HD is losing space every day but haven't installed anything...

I recently bought a new computer with XP and system restore gobbles up over 12GB. That could be what's happening with yours and you can decrease the amount of space reserved if you need to. Just right-click on My Computer and go to Properties, click the System Restore tab and then Settings. It's...

How much of a compromsie is this PC for gaming: HP/AMD/nVidia

I just bought almost the same computer about 6 weeks ago, the HP Pavillion a230n. I think the only difference is that mine has the nVidia graphics built into the motherboard. It played Return to Castle Wolfenstein fine, but Unreal Tournament II was really choppy. As luck would have it someone at...

JVC XV-F85GD Cheap but any good?

I've owned the exact player in question for almost 2 years now and have been really happy with it. It always plays any disc I throw at it and the funky changer mechanism has never jammed. Some discs require that you manually change the type of progressive scan filter used, but normally setting...

JVC 7 disc changer - LAYER CHANGE PROBLEM

I've had an XV-F85GD since October 2001 and have never had a problem with layer changes. It's been a very reliable unit and the layer changes happen in a fraction of a second.

what are the "essential" Chinese movies (e.g. To Live, Raise the Red Lantern, etc.)

Chungking Express. It's one of my favorite movies ever and you'll totally fall in love with Faye Wong - well I did.

    How To Transport Used RPTV

Check with some local stereo shops. I bought a 50" a couple years ago and I have to move across town next week. The store that I bought it from will move it for $50. They obviously have lots of experience moving these things so I wouldn't trust anyone else with my baby.

DVD picture is pink w/ component vid + sony 27fs100??

My neighbor had a similar problem with a HTIB that he bought at Walmart. Component picture was red and S-video was fine, so he asked me to look at it for him after he had checked all the cables several times over. We figured out that you have to turn on the component outputs in the setup menu. I...

Someone please describe the zoom feature on the JVC 500BK

I don't have the 500BK, but I do have a JVC XV-F85GD and I think the zoom is the same on both. Every time you press ZOOM it increments X 2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024. Hope this helps.

*** Official "THE RING" Discussion Thread

I'd have to recommend seeing the remake at the theater first. My friends and I agree that it's better than the original and you'll probably have more fun getting scared at the theater if you don't already know what's supposed to happen next.

    The Ring Trilogy (Japanese Ringu)

I saw the original a couple weeks ago at a friend's house but unfortunately it was only on a 19" TV. Ugh! I thought it was pretty good but I think the Korean version is better. I actually saw the Korean remake first and ended up watching it twice - it's definitely worth seeing. I've only seen...

*** Official "THE RING" Discussion Thread

I went to see it yesterday and I must say that I was impressed. I had already seen the original Japanese version and the Korean remake so I knew what was going to happen but it still managed to totally creep me out. I loved every minute of it. BTW - I can't believe nobody has mentioned that a...

Capture DVD image form a pc

I'm using PowerDVD version 3.0 and screen captures work fine. There's a catch though - I installed a new ATI Radeon video card and PowerDVD won't recognize it. This means that I can't used the card's hardware decoder and DVD's don't play smoothly. I downloaded an update for PowerDVD so it would...

putting items on top of a projo.. how much is too much?

A couple of years ago I had an older 50" Mitsubishi and I kept 2 receivers, a DVD player, the center channel speaker, and 2 VCRs on top with no problems. I have a newer model now, and the only thing on top of it is the center channel speaker and some miscellaneous anime related knick-knacks. The...

jvc progresive scan problem monsters inc. related

I have the JVC XV-F85GD and keep it in smart mode most of the time. Just got through watching Monsters Inc. and the light stayed red the whole time. I was kinda surprised to see the player stay in video mode when I know Shrek and A Bug's Life put it in film mode. The picture looked awesome...

    What irritates you about DVDs?

I just wish that there was some way to turn off the auto-play function on my player. Just because I put a disc in doesn't mean that I want it to play right then. It wouldn't be so bad if I could just hit stop but most discs won't let you do that until that annoying FBI warning is over. I have...

recommend me korean movies on dvd please

Memento Mori is totally addicting, I've seen it several times and it's always a thrill. The acting is great and Kim Min-Sun is so cute! Go for the Korean version even though it's supposed to be region 3 it's actually all-region. I played it on my JVC just fine. I've also watched the overseas...

    Amelie - subtitle errors

Did anyone else notice at the beginning when the narrator is decribing the blue fly as being able to beat it's wings 70 time a minute? Heck, I can flap my arms that fast! It should say 70 times a second. I'm totally nuts about this movie though. I've already seen it five times since I bought it...

    Today's news programs causing burn-in?

Unfortunately my favorite local news station happened to be the worst offender in my area, they put a huge, bright logo in the corner that never goes away. I got more and more annoyed as time went on and finally e-mailed them with my gripe. Time passed and I realized they just don't care. OK...
