My 45a does not pass below black in progressive using DVE. I have not tried it interlaced mode, but I'll take your word for it. I have also noticed after calibration that my black level settings differ on progressive versus interlaced material. For example, when I calibrate using the DVE...
I have a 2 way cable split from the wall, this is how it was installed at the very beginning so I have not tried a direct feed. One cable to the 8000, and the other to the 3100. Since the PVR has dual tuners with the single feed, there is no need to route any cables from the HD to PVR. The...
I have the same setup. You will find that the 3100 up converts all non-HD to 1080i, leaving black bars on the left and right. If you want to have full screen you will need to run an analogue connection as well (S-video, or composite) in addition to component. The way I have mine set up is I...
Actually, the loud electrical cracking noise just reminded me of what happens to my tv. Except I do not think it is electrical, I think when the tv warms up the plastic casing will expand, and it sounds more like a plastic crack. Mine does this all the time, and also happens several minutes...
The Red push is just software setting that can be changed (which I recommend having this changed), but the tv going into a saturated red then shutting off is a control board problem, and is a warranty related fix. I am glad to hear that my tv is not the only one affected, as I posted the same...
I had the same problem with my xbr450 (less than a year old). It seemed to happen when it was warm in the room. I would turn it off for 15 minutes and then it would be normal (till it would happen again). They ultimatly had to replace the color gun control board (don't know the exact name of the...
I'd like to chime in as well. I have the CLD-504, and have been corresponding with Todd over the past couple of days. It seems I had the same issue. I simply cut the lead on the ARC suppressor and replaced the fuse and it automagically worked! I am glad there are helpful people such as Todd and...
I havn't really listened to the CD layer of the SACD...I was comparing it to the original CD. The SACD version is indeed smoother than the original where even loud passages are not harsh but have the dynamic range where it is still a joy to listen. The CD version definitely has a PCM sound to it...
I just received the SACD of this album yesterday and listened to it...wow! The sound is incredible and is now my new reference SACD (bumped Live Recordings at Red Rose Music to no. 2). It is very well balanced and many nuances have surfaced that I was not able to hear on the CD version. If you...
I have the same problem with my unit (CLD-504). I tried to replace the fuse and it kept blowing (3 times). My guess, there's a power board problem, but I am not willing to spend $100-$150 to get it fixed when you can buy a used one for the same price. As of right now...it is collecting dust...
OK, I have had mine for a week now, and the verdict? I love this machine. The reason I bought it was like many of you, the universal play feature, and it doesn't disappoint. All I have been able to get are SACD's because our Best Buy's DVD-A selection stinks! However, the SACD sound is indeed...
Ok, update: I left it unplugged overnight, then plugged it back in...everything looked fine?! So far it has been working normal, but I am going to keep the appointment anyway to see if a diagnostic yields anything.
Last night I was watching TV and the picture started to turn red, and after a period of about 3 minutes, the picture was completely red. Soon after that the tube turned off and an error code was blinking. I unplugged it for about an hour then turned it back on, only to find the same problem. It...
Picked up my 45a today! I will do a bunch of tests probably tonight or tommorow and let you guys know. I can't say I see the chroma bug, but then again, I have never actually seen it on another player so my opinion may not be worth much. Picked it up from my local hifi shop for $400 (do a good...
Apple is also working on a Rendezvous implentation of iTunes which will automatically add a shared playlist of a computer on your network to the computer you want to play it on. Look for the new feature in iTunes by the end of the year.
Readerware needs to be ported to Cocoa, the Java implementation is slow and rough around the edges. I think the software certainly has potential, but it needs a native version and a bit more attention to detail. I'll stick with DVD Profiler on my PC until something equally good makes an...
As for a DVD Profiler port to OS X: Q: Is there a version available for (operating system/platform)? A: At this time, DVD Profiler is Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000 only. DVD Profiler is written in Borland Delphi, and as such is not easy to port to other platforms. However, Borland has...
Ted, It really depends on how much screen real-estate and hard drive space you need. If you plan on doing a lot of video editing I would go with the G4 tower and cinema display, a lot more screen to work with. Also, Video uses "a lot" of hard drive space so you may need to add additional...
I just use iDVD. Tried an early version of DVD studio, but was more than I wanted to do. iDVD simply uses pre-edited movies (iMovie) to arrange in iDVD. 16x9, anamorphic is a bit beyond the capacities of iMovie/iDVD. To do that you will need the professional suite DVD studio pro/Final Cut. DVD...
I have, iCal is a pretty cool little app. You can schedual the subscribed calendar to update however fequently you want, I set mine to weekely. That way it will tell me what DVD's are being released month's ahead. It only lists the major ones though, like 5 or 6. I like it though, you can also...
It seems Pioneer's website has been updated with the 45a as of Friday, may help with tech specs. I'm looking to pick one up myself but haven't checked the local hifi stores yet.
Thought I would chime in. I received my 3802 from 6ave yesterday. I hooked it up, calibrated it, and took it for a test drive. First thing I noticed was the clarity, wow, great receiver! So far, everything works properly, with no problems. I will give it a good workout this weekend though.
