The funny thing is, as unnerving as the demon face is Eileen is pretty cute in person.
I met her at a signing a few years back and while she was quietly signing DVDs she suddenly looked up and screamed "Boo!" at my friend and I.
Generally a fun experience.
Finished up with one last movie, I might have done the other two necessary to make it to 31, but the need for sleep and the urge to see all the trick or treaters won out. For the last of the challenge I watched Carrie 2, and it has some good gore effects and some fair performances. It is no...
Over the weekend pushed a little closer to 31… They Came Back 4.5/5 Wow, I was a little worried that my expectations were going to be too high for this one. But I absolutely loved it, it had a wonderful feeling of the other foot about to drop throughout. Thanks guys for the tips on where to...
A trip to Blockbuster it is then, thanks Jason. As for my viewing habits, the Mrs. And I took in a pair of Freddy movies last night: Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare 2/5 I like the character of Freddy, and like the general feel of the franchise, but boy was this one cheesy. Cheesy and...
Man oh man I have got to find a copy of They Came Back, that sounds right up my alley. Out of curiosity, does anyone have any suggestions for some other recent European horror?
I will say that the non-horror directors interviewed in American Nightmare sounded ridiculous in someof their observations. The idea of parents on some level wanting to eat their children and the way in which this idea was presented just made me snicker. Although I did like the way in which...
Four more over the weekend The American Nightmare 5/5 This is a fascinating documentary on the horror movies of 1968 through 1978 which includes interviews with many high profile horror directors. Highly recommended for fans of the genre The Shining 5/5 Nope, this movie doesn’t really...
Three more for the tally. Wes Craven’s New Nightmare 4/5 This movie works well because of that amazing child actor. How such a small child could convincingly play both scared witless and devilishly cruel (often in the same scene) just boggles my mind. Land of the Dead (Unrated) 3.5/5 I...
Caught a few more movies. For starters my wife wanted to see The Ring again, (she was terrified by it when we saw it theatrically) and so we popped it in. I enjoyed it, and she was able to watch it all the way through for the first time (when we saw it in theaters she spent the last ten...
I took the 27 question version and ended up as Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Then I took the 45 question version and was called The Godfather. An odd dichotomy there if you ask me.
Michael, did you get Rats as part of Anchor Bay's movie six-packs? My wife bought me the Man's Worst Friends pack that includes Rats: Night of Terror and we had a blast watching it. Not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination but entertaining none-the-less. Another of similar quality is...
Over the past couple of days I repainted the bedroom, instead of watching the paint dry I tried… The Fog (1979) 4.5/5 This is one of my favorite ghost stories. Just the quiet creepy feel to it and that fantastic mood music by Carpenter make this a perennial for me. House of 1000 Corpses...
Joining in late (due to work obligations) but here is where I stand so far. New ones are bold A History of Violence : 5/5 After watching this, and pondering that last scene, I realized what an incredible work of art this is. There's no denying that Cronenberg is a master at using gore and...
The Devil Made Me Do It pack has some really fun titles in it (I have that one and the Man's Worst Friend set). I wasn't too thrilled with Curse of the Devil or Antichrist, but To the Devil a Daughter, Hell Night and The Church are awesome. You'll have to let me know how you like the Walking...
The discs are in regular keep cases. The six of them are laying on their side in the six pack box. And they're a lot of fun to watch. Myself, I'm a fan of the Man's Worst Friend set.
I really like this thread. One of the more interesting reads out there. Anyway, here’s my contribution: The LOTR movies are dull and boring. Especially the first, which is essentially seven guys going for a walk. Family Guy is not a great show, it may have one or two funny moments, but...
I don't know about the features, but when I was at the Drive In Flashback convention last weekend I saw a copy of the Book. It's pretty cool, it feels like a slightly different material than the original BOTD release though.
I'm pretty sure that that is what Edwin meant (again, correct me if I'm wrong). But the fact of the matter is that better marketing took the day, not better technical quality.
Ditto to what Rich said. Also I think in a lot of ways the organizing of movies (or any art form) into a list of favorites is a type of self discovery. Listing your favorites is a way of organizing your thoughts. For some people Garden State is a moving work that speaks to their world view...
Being the horror nut I am, my prized discs are the divimax Dawn of the Dead signed by George Romero and my copy of House of 1000 corpses signed by the primary cast. That and my Star Wars Holiday Special disc. :)
