Majorly Dissapointed With My Denon (and the rest of the system)

Audioasylum and even audiogon are good too. This is the wrong place. The questions being asked whould be revolving around room size and type, musical preferences, and budget.

Can comcast dvr record from composite input?

I re-ran a search here with different paramemeters and it seems that the composite inputs are disabled. I guess that answers the question... -rob

Can comcast dvr record from composite input?

I recently switched from Tivo to the Comcast dual tuner dvr. My wife has a couple of programs on the tivo that she wants to keep. Is there any way to record the tivo content onto the comcast box? Can the comcast box record from an input other than the coax cable feed? I realize that there are...

Can two guys haul a 200lb rptv up a flight of stairs?

Greg, 57" Sony, 195 lbs. That is really my concern too Matt. Would you do it again i guess is my question. also, would it make it easier to take it out of the box? Probably not worth losing the protection it offers... -rob

Can two guys haul a 200lb rptv up a flight of stairs?

Subject says it all. Is that more than a buddy and myself should try and bite off? I am 26 so am not worried about hurting myself. But I dont want to try something impossible either and drop the thing down the stairs either. 2 flights at a 45 degree incline or so. No bends but the hallway...

Anyone hear of these stereo amplifiers?

Electrocompaniet is good stuff as well. Very unique sounding though, you need to hear it before you buy- and if you buy new you are way over 1k. I had the smaller integrated that did about 80 wpc. Nice but very different. I dont think you can get into anything Rowland for 1k or under. I...

    Terk XM Commander

Shows how much you know. The terk is not an antenna, it is an entire control unit. This is exactly the reason why I stopped frequenting this forum. I used to be 5-10 posts a day. Now I visit twice a year. People respond as if they are speaking the gospel, when they have no idea what is even...

    Terk XM Commander

If you are looking for a permanent, sleek install than you have no ther choice. The other plug and play units that are designed to operate back and forth from house to car do not look as sleek when installed or have as good modulation when transmitting via FM. The commander is desinged to wire...

    Amp Question

The easiest thing to do would probably be to run an integrated amp off of the tape output on your yamaha. This will allow seperate control settings in your auxillary areas while still letting you access your main source components. In addition, you wont be taxing the power supplies in your...

    newbie question on Tivo

Thanks for the response... That doesn't seem to make sense to me though. It makes perfect sense for the tivo to act that way when it needs to change channels to record at my request. My question is how does it know when it can record its "suggested" material? If what you are saying...

    newbie question on Tivo

I apologize if this has been asked, but my search struck out. My series 2 seems to have been designed to stay on all of the time. If so, how does it know when it is okay to change channels and record it's "reccomended" programs? From my perspective; I leave and walk out of the room...

    MB Quart, opinions?

I listened to the quart 1000, and 2000 models 7-10 years ago which were in the $1500-$2000 range. My impression was excellent. Those titanium tweeters can be a bit much in the wrong systems. Also, most are a 4ohm load. Make sure you amps can handle it. If so, they are well worth a hour or...

Anywhere else to buy ATHENA besides b.b.??

I would go to Best Buy. I too, hate giving them business. However, I think it makes a lot of sense in your situation. It is so much faster, you dont have to worry about shipping (either way) and if something goes wrong you will have a new pair within hours. Your not doing it for Best...

Can Anyone Recommend a Decent 2-Channel System?

I would start with speakers and work around them. Trying to do the entire system at once is overwhelming. I would suggest something that is ported in the front. If they are rear ported than your 1.5ft clearance will probably not have them far enough away from the wall as they need to be. What...

    Speakers...Headphones...

I am not sure about sounds getting lost. However, my dealer/friend estimates that around 10x more needs to be spent on speakers to equal the performance of a set of headphones. So a $50 pair of headphones is comporable to a $500 pair of speakers etc. Obviously this is an estimate. YMMV A...

    marantz sr18 sep, amp

You should definately look into a sperate amp. The 804s have the resloving power to make it well worth your while. Any preowned 2ch amp >$300 will out-perform your marantz amps. -rob
